Three hours into a five hour "we'll show up sometime" window for a Daikin air conditioner repair engineer. Actual appointments are so twentieth century.

I don't know where those behind the "thin scrollbar" trend got their computing education, but they need to go back there and do the HCI course again. Then they need to spend at least a week using glasses that distort their eyesight while they work, so they can learn what people with vision challenges experience while trying to use what they built. Same for the "small text" trend. And the "it doesn't matter how much you zoom or unzoom...

Not having a great day. Then I went to YouTube to try to find a film trailer and had Japan xenophobia rage bait shoved in my face by the algorithm. I'm starting to think the reason the world is going to hell in a handcart is so many people have it good. They have it so easy they think it is easy, and that it's easy for everyone, when the only reason it's easy for them is other people's unacknowledged labour. Maybe the collapse of civilisation is what we need. (S...

Can't help but feel the U.S. propaganda machine is relying on people's poor geography today. Apparently the U.S. had to return fire after its vessels were targeted in Hormuz. But there were interceptions over Tehran. Now, it's possible that Iran fired some huge missile from Tehran at a U.S. vessel in Hormuz, but Tehran is really quite a long way from Hormuz. Even if that was what happened, firing missiles at Tehran and other plum targets doesn't seem like a measu...

Are there any good #RSS clients for Windows and ideally Linux as well that can pop up desktop notifications and are not RSS Guard? (I've been trying RSS Guard recently and it has a lot of features but they're poorly organized, half of them don't work correctly and the developer is too much of a jerk for me to waste time filing bug reports for even the ones I've found so far in just a week of trying to use it.) Recommendations gratefully received 🙏

Iran bombing U.S. nuclear power plants is fine, right? That's what the U.S. and Israeli forces are doing in Iran, WITH YOUR TAX DOLLARS, so those plants must be legitimate targets, right? Like universities, and medical institutions, and desalination plants. Bombing YOUR civilian targets and turning YOUR cities into dust wouldn't bother you at all, right? Y'all are ready for New York to look like Gaza. Just making sure, as that's what's being communicate...
