I’m focused on learning and building practical systems for independent, resilient living. My interests include thin-shell acrylic concrete hyperbolic roofing, stabilized compressed earth blocks, water distillation, Incinolet toilets, solar, hydroponics, skoolies, and off-grid design in Arizona. I genuinely love working with kubernetes and thinking in systems that stay simple, reliable, and resilient. As an admin of holm.community, I mostly support and boost interesting, practical projects.

George Nez, who died in 2022, spent the last few decades of his life teaching people how to build roofs out of almost nothing. The technique he co-developed with engineer Albert Knott, documented in their 2005 book Latex Concrete Habitat, is called a thin-shell latex concrete hyperbolic paraboloid roof. “Hypar” for short.

I owe an apology to anyone affected by my recent follow activity. I was new to Mastodon and didn’t understand the norms. I followed far too many people too quickly. I’ve stopped completely. I’m a private person who rarely shares publicly and is still learning how this community works. I’m genuinely committed to being a respectful participant. If I followed you and you’d prefer I didn’t, please feel free to remove or block me. No hard feelings at all.
