Response to new provincial approval & permitting processes for fossil fuel projects: “Oil and gas on private property, we screwed that up bad. There's places we can't fix now." "It's time to start considering where people live and what we do, and this doesn't give me a lot of of faith that's happening here." #BCpoli https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/peace-region-bcer-wind-projects-cumulative-impacts-9.7286326

“We are experiencing exactly what the climate models in the 1990s said we should experience now... ... more frequent, more severe #heatwaves, bigger temperature anomalies, more humidity, higher overnight temperatures... all part and parcel of the climate story" ~ #ClimateCentral org The 3rd major #HeatDome in a month is set to hit southern & central U.S.. Temperatures of 95-105F (35-40C) are expected -- potentially reaching 120F (48C) in some areas. #ClimateChange https://www.thegu...

Hey Canada?!! New York became the first state to pause all construction of massive new AI data centers. The 1-year moratorium applies to data centers using 50 megawatts or more and will not be lifted until “consistent standards” for responsible data center development are set. The ban is intended to address the risks of pollution, rising energy costs, and diminishing water supplies. 1/2 #VanPoli #Vancouver #BCPoli #CdnPoli #energy https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2026/07/new-york-is-the...

Is Canada really on the path to "energy sovereignty"? Assistant prof, poli sci department and Bieler School of Environment, McGill University: "Energy sovereignty typically, [is] about control over your sources of energy... in theory to provide some kind of guarantee for affordable energy or sustainable energy" "The Carney government's interpretation of energy sovereignty seems out of step with other countries." 1/6 #CdnPoli #Climate #EnergySovereignty #Ren...

🔥Two CBC headlines juxtaposed online (June 30, 2026) Carney Federal government to boost #fossilfuel production while Canadians experience increasing #heatwave and #flood. Increasing fossil fuel production increases greenhouse gases and global warming which, in turn, increases frequency and intensity of extreme weather (e.g. heatwaves, torrential rain, flooding) #QualityofLife #ClimateCrisis #emissions

💥Whoa! Another Conservative MP crosses the floor to federal Liberal Party: long-time Conservative MP Marilyn Gladu... "The past year has been like no other that Canada has ever faced, and I've heard clearly from constituents that you want serious leadership and a real plan to build a stronger and more independent Canadian economy" Federal Liberals are now at 171 seats, one short of the 172 seats required for a (slim) majority. #CdnPoli https://www.cbc.ca/news/polit...
