RE: https://ec.social-network.europa.eu/@HennaVirkkunen/117008348161347403 "Gigafactory" is a term coined and popularized by known fascist and racist Elon Musk. "AI Factory" was coined by NVIDIA to make investments into their graphics cards look like a reasonable way to use one's resources. That alone should stop anyone from using those terms or their composita. The fact that "AI" hasn't shown meaningful contribution to economic growth or increased product...

Would you say that a "good" tool necessarily needs to be deterministic? (Edit: Exceptions of course for things like a random number generator)

RE: https://tldr.nettime.org/@tante/116963048258608122 Also: "Open Source AI" does not exist. It's all just open weights meaning it's Freeware, not free software.

"If you really want an "AI strategy" for your country, it should be this: wait for the bubble to burst, then buy hardware and talent at fire-sale prices in the wave of ensuing bankruptcies, and use them to extract more performance from free, open source models." I totally agree that your "AI strategy" should be mostly to sit all the investments out. But not to use those fascist (https://tante.cc/2026/04/21/ai-as-a-fascist-artifact/ ) systems yourself later - just c...

RE: https://tldr.nettime.org/@tante/116962763566729286 It does make sense: OpenAI was losing ground and mindshare to Anthropic. They are running out of money but couldn't IPO because SpaceX ruined it. This "our model is a Cyberweapon" is advertising directly to the Pentagon.

No, OpenAI's new magic models did not autonomously hack Huggingface. Per OpenAI's PR blog post (https://openai.com/index/hugging-face-model-evaluation-security-incident/): "This incident occurred during an internal evaluation which prompts models to pursue advanced exploitation using complex attack paths, in an effort to quantify their cyber capabilities. We estimate maximal cyber capabilities by running this evaluation without production classifiers used to prevent models from pu...
