16 years ago, the first public working draft of Web Open Font Format (WOFF) was published. WOFF is how downloadable fonts on the Web went from "no-one uses it" to "most sites use it". I reflected on this milestone in a blog post today: https://www.w3.org/blog/2026/woff-1-0-a-milestone-on-w3cs-journey-of-fonts-on-the-web/

CSS has just added an image form of light-dark(). So as well as choosing between a pair of colors based on light or dark mode, you can also choose between a pair of images. No you can't mix them because parsing would be hard. #CSS https://www.w3.org/TR/css-color-5/#light-dark
