16 years ago, the first public working draft of Web Open Font Format (WOFF) was published. WOFF is how downloadable fonts on the Web went from "no-one uses it" to "most sites use it".
I reflected on this milestone in a blog post today:

@svgeesus@mastodon.scot Thanks to this, I just spent the past hour reliving the summer of 2009 via the listserve discussions that led, eventually, to the charter of the W3C webfont working group. I’d forgotten how cheeky I was.
