Currently reading "Malazan Book of the Fallen #1 - Gardens of the Moon". I'm about one third into the book, but can't seem to get into it. The story just meanders along, and the writing feels needlessly convoluted. Does it get better? #bookstodon #literature #books

I'm always baffled when smaller creators use AI. The reason why they're resorting to AI, is because it's cheap and fast. They're okay with artist exploitation, as long as they get to benefit from it. Yet, at the same time, they are smaller indie creators themselves and expect people to pay for their products. The hypocrisy is staggering. As an example, I just received a newsletter from Sandy Petersen, using an AI generated "Cthulhu Christmas"...

Very tempted to plug out of social media altogether in order to stay sane in 2026.

I cannot overemphasize how much I dislike people who make hurtful "jabs", "humorous insults" or humiliate people in front of others just to be perceived as funny and witty, when really they're just bullies. And when confronted with it, they just go "Well, that's just how I am", "I'm just being honest", "You just can't take a joke" or are insulted by the insinuation, that the...

One of the best pieces of advice I've received this year: Keep your efforts and goals to yourself. Share them when you've accomplished what you've set out to do. Not everyone needs to know what you're working on. Not everyone deserves to.

Out of curiosity: What social media platforms and properties do you find most addictive? Secondarily, what makes you stay on those platforms, even though you are aware of those addictive / toxic qualities? #socialmedia

I think Christmas is a wonderful time to remember how blessed we are. Not in any religious sense. Just the fact that we can feel safe and welcome in a cosy place under a solid roof, that we get to spend time with the people that we love. That we're allowed to be part of their lives, that we get to eat delicious food, sleep in a warm bed, and have the possibility to work towards a future that we envision. We're gifted with the tools to make the world a better place. We just have...

If you don't have the money to spend on WotC products, but still want to provide quality content for your players, "Dragon" and "Dungeon" magazine are freely available online (around 550 issues). The adventures, classes, spells, races etc are from older D&D editions. But if you're a halfway decent DM, you should be able to adapt the contents into 5e (or whatever other system you're using) with little effort. They should last yo...
