Wow, I just saw a video that segued into an ad read with "we don't think AI should ever replace human creativity" and then proceeded to earnestly read an ad for an AI subscription service. 💀

The software I'm working on runs on a RaspberryPi and serves a webapp. But, it's experimental and things can break so I built a little "rescue" web-app that lets you view status, logs, and restart the service or reboot the machine. 😎 <100 lines of python, love it. ALT

Please wake me if you find me daydreaming In your fields of gentle pale-gold freckles Pull me to shore should you catch me swimming In the waves of your cornflower-blue eyes Blind my vision if you find me sneaking Longing glances at your witty smile Give me direction if I'm wandering Lost within your resonant melodies Expel my ghost if I begin haunting Your attic, power sockets, and floorboards Forgive my lonely little heart's pining For one so wonderful and frightening And kn...

Honestly the best thing about intensive mental health treatment is that there are 10 hours in each day where the internet can not reach me. Gonna have to start unplugging the router religiously when this is over.

I've been largely Unplugged™️ from the internet for the last few months and I gotta say, the stuff I do see about AI and software engineering is fucking bleak. I can't help but think about the tools and impact we could build with 1/10th the investment, hype, and attention. When I think about returning to work eventually and opening up my editor, I feel sad that I'm going to have to work around AI throughout the entire process, instead of just building something with other people. The...

Knowing what you're up against is half the battle, and I finally have a name for the monster that's tag-teamed with depression for so much of my life. https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/the-complex-ptsd-chronicles/202603/how-complex-ptsd-fuels-limerence/amp

Inspired by @josefprusa 's new license "for the maker community", OCL, I'm introducing it's long-awaited sequel, SOCL! Like Hollow Knight Silksong, it promises to be an improvement over its prequel in every way. Looking forward to community adoption and feedback! https://github.com/theacodes/socl

Between depression, heartache, and the state of the world, it's hard for me to be "visible" today. It means a lot to see so many others speak out and be visible. So, I'm still here, still visible.

So You Want to Solve Python Packaging: A Practical Guide First, the technical: Python is used by vastly different groups of people, some that don't identify as "developers". Those groups often have disparate expectations about how packaging should work. Some don't even know what a package is.

RE: https://mastodon.social/@Edent/116261526162044968 Wholehearted agree. If it's gonna be revolutionary, I don't need to be an early adopter.

A programmer saying "If I don't use AI tools, I'll be left behind" is like trying to outrun a steamroller by preemptively flattening your feet.
