  After a smaller tour through continental western Europe (Spain, Netherlands, Germany and Belgium), finally back on my way home. While it’s been a very worthwhile trip with my first #GUADEC ever, a longer visit to my parents in the Netherlands and exploring the lovely city of Gent together with my wife. I would be lying if I’d say I’m not happy to finally sleep in my own bed again. GUADEC travel blog will follow later next week once I caught up with my other responsibilities :)

  Today I released Lockpicker. Lockpicker is essentially a GUI frontend to hashcat. Recover a password from its hash straight from a modern GNOME-native interface without the hassle of dealing with hashcat syntax. Early release. It still has a few rough edges UI-wise, where I probably want to do a pretty major overhaul eventually. I also need to redo the logo properly.   Probably want to add the ability to fill the area under/below and between curves in Graphs 2.1. Seems like a sensible feature to have in, and can lead to quite pretty/clear figures. This is just a quick poc, but I have a quite clear idea about the implementation and an initial MR shouldn't take more than a day of actual work, but I do need to find some focused time to work on it. #GNOME #LinuxApps #Linux

  Small change in the Graphs beta (still on MR), but the plan is labels to be truncated dynamically in the upcoming release, instead of the current max limit of 40 characters. The main reason was on mobile phone testing, it was pretty easy to have the label so large that it messes up the window. But truncating even more by default feels like a waste on PC screens. Hence, doing this dynamically based on canvas size. Coming to Flathub stable on May 15th :) #GNOME #linux #GNOMECircle #FOSS

  Try to order the Steam Controller directly at launch, constant payment server problems. Finally get through: “Your order cannot be completed because one or more items in your cart is currently out of stock.”. Not sure why I keep expecting things to work despite constant evidence to the contrary 🥲

  I don't remember exactly who it was, but someone mentioned the Authenticator app a while ago on Mastadon so I gave it a shot. It's been the single biggest digital QoL improvement I've had in a looong time. Just press meta, type in sst (first letters of my username in my GNOME SSO), press enter. Boom, it copies my 2FA code to clipboard. It's so convenient, takes away all the hassle from 2FA. So much nicer than taking out my phone all the time and typing it over...

  After two years of development, we're happy to announce Graphs 2.0. It's by far our biggest update yet. We're targeting stable next month, with an official beta period in the meantime. Highlights include proper equation support with an infinite canvas, a redesigned style editor with live preview, error bars, SQLite & spreadsheet support and much more.   It's pretty cool how useable GNOMEOS is nowadays. Apart from the issue I had earlier when combining multiple NVMe drives, everything's been smooth sailing so far. Will stick to Fedora at work, but the idea right now is to keep using this on my daily driver on my personal machine. (Last summer I tried it for a month) #GNOMEOS #GNOME
