I don't remember exactly who it was, but someone mentioned the Authenticator app a while ago on Mastadon so I gave it a shot.
It's been the single biggest digital QoL improvement I've had in a looong time. Just press meta, type in sst (first letters of my username in my GNOME SSO), press enter. Boom, it copies my 2FA code to clipboard.
It's so convenient, takes away all the hassle from 2FA. So much nicer than taking out my phone all the time and typing it over.

@sstendahl Mornings would not feel great given gitlab immediately shouts "PAPIEREN!" at you :) You nailed why Authenticator is great.

@sstendahl so you turn 2FA into 1FA: both factors are on the same device. And under control of the same user.

@sstendahl and it can import from a Aegis app backup, even if encrypted and password protected, making it a viable disaster recovery path in case your phone gives up the ghost.
