observation on BioWare’s closure: EA is losing on the PR front, and it’s going to continue to bite them even harder unless they do something to weather the storm (i.e., sell or spin off BioWare.) if i were in charge of their crisis comms, that’s what i’d be pushing execs to do.

feel the need to remind everyone that iOS 27.1 is an interim release. 27.2 is going to available almost immediately after the device hits most people's hands. think we'll see most apps be optimized by end of year, to be honest. Apple's really good at lighting the fire under people's asses on that front.

i want to speak on what Mark Darrah says in here in particular, because it’s an incredible read on what’s happening. Darrah: “I’d argue it was an accidental acquisition. EA bought VG Holding—which included BioWare and Pandemic—largely to acquire Pandemic and Knights of the Old Republic, because it wanted an MMO and the Battlefront developers. In doing so, it ended up with BioWare Edmonton, the core old-school RPG studio. EA never really understood what it wanted from BioWare.” this is evidence...

bracing for all the inevitable complaints that people are going to have about apps not being 100% optimized for touch on macOS before the product even hits developers. like yes, some apps with Sidecar support will be ready but most won’t. sigh.

had a thought, could Apple not roll a Background Security Improvement (which they seem to have abandoned again) to yank these certs? maybe just me, but feels like this is way too long to patch. https://slade.link/vxa1n49

RE: https://mastodon.social/@gedeonm/117424871652090499 .@gedeonm@mastodon.social is a very big reason this Mastodon instance (sackettalum.net) and Rogueport Media LLC exist. why we have a roadmap internally at Rogueport to kill our X accounts in the near future. why i work on the projects i work on to begin with. he’s not the only reason, but a big reason. so believe me, i’m amplifying his post because i believe in him and Iconfactory. i’ve been using their things since i was 15—and i’m 24 now...
