i want to speak on what Mark Darrah says in here in particular, because it’s an incredible read on what’s happening. Darrah: “I’d argue it was an accidental acquisition. EA bought VG Holding—which included BioWare and Pandemic—largely to acquire Pandemic and Knights of the Old Republic, because it wanted an MMO and the Battlefront developers. In doing so, it ended up with BioWare Edmonton, the core old-school RPG studio. EA never really understood what it wanted from BioWare.” this is evidenced by EA getting very involved at a micromanagement level with several of BioWare’s projects, which is especially obvious if you look at Mass Effect: Andromeda. (but i would also argue the BioWare folks tried to make the best of what the people on high were telling them to do.) EA doesn’t realize that, by closing BioWare instead of spinning it off or selling it to another company, they’ve kicked a hornet’s nest. i’d also wager they won’t care UNLESS there’s noise about it. speaking as someone who deals with the PR side from the other end of these game companies, they don’t do or respond to anything unless the pressure is so immense it either threatens to or hurts their bottom line. if you want a change, hit them where it hurts. just my two cents. https://wccftech.com/ea-never-understood-bioware-jennifer-hale-mark-darrah-fans-cd-projekt-save-mass-effect/
