**Ableton Live 12 Linux Compatibility update** **New release: 2026.07.17.2** Changes: - WineASIO replaced with PipeASIO, a native PipeWire ASIO driver. - Hardware inputs arrive as separate channels, Live can record from any PipeWire source, and the buffer size stays locked at 256 frames. Driver settings live in ~/.config/pipeasio/config.ini. - Live now idles at about 2 to 5 percent CPU, dropping the baseline CPU usage by like 75% - Theme regressions fixed. Live follows the system light/dark s...

After five years, The Digital Identity Event Horizon is published in full today: three problem statements, ten key findings, and dozens of recommendations across policy, protocol, legal, and social contexts. It's the largest research study in New Design Congress' eight-year history: eight case studies, hundreds of citations, dozens of participants from government, intelligence, civil society, technology, and the field itself. It is also, without exaggeration, the most alarming body of...

On Thursday and Friday I went to a game developer conference and started talking openly about NDC's unannounced video game concept. The feedback was so overwhelmingly positive I made the decision to move the post-R&D project kickoff forward from my original November plan, to ..... Monday. Utterly electrifying.

RE: https://ec.social-network.europa.eu/@EUCommission/116408720976324749 Without knowing whether it would have made any difference, it is my belief that the targeted suppression campaign against NDC in 2025, in which we received a completely baseless Cease and Desist as we began publishing, stopped our digital identity research from reaching eIDAS 2.0 policymakers. The resulting clusterfuck can be seen basically all around us.

One day you wake up and missiles are falling on Tehran. A girl's school is obliterated and explained away as an 'AI hallucination'. The men who ordered it read GPT-tinged speeches, and none of it feels real because the last time you saw these people, they were podcasters and cable news hosts. Another strongman wins an election โ the headlines call it a shock win. All you feel is deja vu. Your body knows better. You reach for your allies and find dust. You were so sure we...

hello new followers! 300+ new followers here in less than 8hrs. Crazy! In less than 24 hours, 10,000 people spent 20+ minutes on the NDC website, reading `Who Will Remember Us When the Servers Go Dark?` If you want to learn more about the circumstances surrounding this essay, we put a short update out on the New Design Congress mailing list: https://newdesigncongress.org/email/11d79bbe-72f0-4a55-b2ca-4e219672e35b/ There is an entire pipeline of work coming. In 2015 I was on a beach in Hawai'i helping build the prototype of what became Signal. I argued that the app needed pseudonyms because abusers know their victims' phone numbers. I lost the fight that day. History proved me right, and Signal would move to usernames under @Mer__edith's stewardship. In this new essay, I trace the line from Barlow's Declaration of Independence of Cyberspace through smart-home forensics, metadata killings, and Archive Team's n...

I have spent the last four months unearthing and meticulously rewriting the songs I originally wrote when I was a closeted teenager living in Singapore. I now have this full collection of songs I hadn't listened to in over 15 years, and probably wouldn't have if 2025 hadn't been the year it was. They're all re-assembled now as part of a larger, very surreal and ambitious and unannounced creative project and as I lie here in the dark listening through them I feel...
