  S3 of Halt and Catch Fire is off to a good start. Feeling somewhat better but still a bit off...executive functioning has ceased to exist this year (and since I'm AuDHD...it was barely there to begin with). Hopefully a good night's sleep and I'll be back to "normal" tomorrow.

  19. A Crushing Walk in Cornwall by Nicholas George. Chase's third long-walk in England with a murder. I might be the oddity that wants more of the walk (and Chase's relationship with Mike!) and less of the murders; that's also the hiker in me who burnt out on murder mysteries in the 90s.

  Foggy morning at River Bend, heard more birds than I saw and the ones I saw didn’t want their photos taken, except for this male cardinal who escorted another male cardinal out of its territory and then sang loudly, convinced it was inconspicuous. I also saw a wood duck, blue jay, tons of catbirds, and an Eastern Kingbird. #Birds #Outdoors

  Sorry for another Camino poll/more indecision. Turns out there isn't an affordable place to stay in the town of the first night, as the place I was going to stay is 6 km away and has no way to reserve, questionable if even open. 1 means bus to next town, next morning bus back and walk 2 means visiting either Elche or Cartagena for that extra time 3 means Camino Vadiniense in reverse from León to Santo Toribio (Picos de Europa!) So here are the options...

  I got a bit excited when Morgawr by Terry Brooks, the third in the Voyage of the Jerle Shannara series, introduced a prime minister as I thought it might go into more of the political structure but nah, more of the same...think the second was the best of this trilogy. #Bookstodon

  So...Camino plans have hit a glitch. As I was studying the night I end the first etapa in...turns out that the only inn in the pueblo is six km outside of town and its reservation system is non existent. I could be normal, just either do two nights in Lorca or the next stage end and bus back and forth or just skip the first stage and spend the night in Elche, bus to Lorca, then bus to the next town, but I'm me and want to redo all the Camino plans to be in the Picos. In October.

  Halt and Catch Fire S2 is really getting good, and I'm so glad we stuck with it (boyfriend works in tech so of course he likes it. It does raise the question, is James Cromwell that unlikeable or does he just play really horrible, hateable characters? (I've hated him since Six Feet Under.) Oh, and both Nathaniel and now Sober Greg from Crazy Ex Girlfriend have shown up.

  Switching the Wednesday Foreign Flick with the Friday movie this week, so the Wednesday Foreign Flick was Antonioni's Cronaca di un amore from 1950. Not his best work but entertaining enough.

  I just barely finished July's Stephen King re-read on time...The Talisman (with Peter Straub) is one of my faves, first read in 2021. I didn't like the sequel as much so wonder how the third one will be (Jack ends up in Ohio and meets Holly Gibney?) #Bookstodon

  Before I change my mind again, I have ALSA bus tickets from València to Alicante, Burgos to León (for post Camino holiday) and León to Gijón, train from Granada to Córdoba and Córdoba to Zaragoza. Now somewhat locked into Camino plans 🙃 All refundable, of course, because this timeline…

  I accidentally deleted the thread for Wednesday Foreign Flick :-/ I had to skip it today as I had a DVD hold in from the library, Omaha...which was depressing AF. Should have waited to watch that one tomorrow. Will watch some foreign film tomorrow though!

  We had an adventure this morning near Peoria at Sand Ridge State Forest. I think I believed their PR a bit too much about it being a beautiful, sandy forest. It was just typical Illinois with sand. But the nearby Chautauqua National Wildlife Refuge was awesome (and even saw pelicans in the distance 😍) Pics to come.

  We watched The Fog (1980) tonight, which was a fun, very 80s horror flick from John Carpenter that felt based on Stephen King somehow. Worth a watch, especially for young Jamie Lee Curtis.

  Just rewatched Riding in Cars with Boys for the first time in probably 20 years (how am I that old?) and remembering my major crush on Adam Garcia in this and Coyote Ugly. Sure, it's slow and clunky (and mainly Drew Barrymore wanting an Oscar nom), but it has a place in my heart. I miss cinema the way it used to be.

  So I have the Ruta del Argar al revés from Lorca to Almería pretty much set. Now just trying to decide on whether to do a branch of the Mozárabe between Granada and Córdoba or Jaén and Córdoba OR head up north to do the Castellano Aragonés from Zaragoza to Burgos via Soria. Pros for staying south: Cheaper, more time in Granada, warmer, sunnier weather is more likely, less transport, Jaén.   We finished Halt and Catch Fire S1, and I'm interested to see where it goes from here. I catch the use of sayings/expressions that wouldn't have been used in the 80s... Better day today, but still feeling meh physically from the anxiety the past few days. I'm having second thoughts on the Camino plans still. Good night and have a pleasant tomorrow.

  My plans to do the Collins Pond loop at Homer Lake were thwarted once again by people showing up out of nowhere, so I went a different way through the woods and in between out of sight cardinals and blue jays. I eventually saw a tufted titmouse, goldfinch, downy woodpecker, Eastern kingbird and Eastern bluebird. Pics to come when I have energy to upload.
