Today I'm mostly waiting for a paypal invoice of joy. I used to be quite good at waiting for things but now I seem to be awful at it. Is it here yet? Is it here yet? Is it here yet? Arrghh.

Well the unavoidable dental work I'd been putting off for years has finally happened. Not sure how I feel about it. Was over very quickly. The injections and liquid to make injections less painful were the worst bit. Now have weird stick in mouth fake front teeth. They are uniform which is nothing like my real teeth which are wonky as heck. Looks so odd to me but colour match is actually spot on. Did jump up and down a few times to see if it'd fall out. Now awaiting the first...

Just got the scans back for my first roll of ECN2 film. Silbersalz. There seem to be some weird brown marks or similar on several frames. Anyone got any ideas how it is caused? Lab devved and scanned so should I complain to the lab or is it typical of films with remjet and there's always some frames with weird bits on them? #believeinfilm

Blimey. TWC the Invacar has left the Hubnut fleet. Didn’t think Ian would let her go. https://youtu.be/CsLppPduHUw?si=jPICXM9m3dgZFthQ

Results with the freebie XA3 weren't helped by a certain muppet that forgot to think about making sure the zone focus lever was set to the right distance. Left it on mid way and then spent some time doing photos of things miles away. The previous owner said it was a bit weird and it is. It stuck about frame 20 and then decided after a rest in the camera bag it was prepared to carry on. Wind on is a bit stiff at times so hopefully my friend that does mess with cameras can sort it!

Doh. Keep leaving the Dynax 40 switched on as it doesn't have the normal lock/on slider. It has the off on the program dial instead. Been left on for weeks yet again. So annoying. All my other dynax SLRs have the slider which is harder to catch accidentally. Only picked it up to put the 20mm wide angle on it as that has previously been on the 505si. It was being fussy about focus so thought I'd try another body. Lucky it takes CR2 batteries which I have the most of not one of...

Seems that the Fiat Topolino is now available in the UK. Both it and the Ami both have the air of a plastic festival toilet cubicle but somehow they’re still quite appealing. https://www.fiat.co.uk/models/new-topolino

Had another accidental camera buy. Saw a Minox CD112 for sale on FFordes. It's boxed and honestly looks like it's brand new. Not got any film zoom compacts at all. They're all fixed lens or dual lens, no motorised zooms. Old school bzztt bzzt noises camera.

Good job I checked the app for my car insurers. Sneaky bastards have turned auto renewal back on! I keep turning it off. It really is appalling the way they carry on. Policy is sub standard and they cheated me out of thousands on paying out for the Model S so there's no way I'm staying with them.

Another day out where the journey took 2 hours to get one hour away. So annoying. God knows what was going on the M6 but got stuck for must have been 45 minutes going nearly nowhere. Then by the time I had decided to turn back suddenly the whole whatever it was just disappeared. Turns out it was a drugged up idiot! https://www.stokesentinel.co.uk/news/stoke-on-trent-news/m6-gridlock-after-11am-smash-10919288

The Fuji X Half I got last year is a bit of a gimmicky thing but battery life is stonking and it's so easy to upload via the app and into your photo roll. No farting about with SD cards or USB. CIPA battery life is something crazy like 850 shots. That's about double anything else I've got. It's got a wind on lever for doing diptychs so I have to remember not to automatically wang it like I do with film cameras. Also decided to give my ancient first camera an o...

The Electra 100 is definitely a bit of a weird film. Wasn't what I expected at all having seen other people's results. Will run another roll but in the Snapic which is pretty much fixed exposure.

Found this weird bit of plastic on the floor. Thought it might be a bit of car trim fixer Turns out it was Shaun The Sheep's eyeball 😬 Somehow it got yanked out. Didn't realise until I looked at the keyring properly. Poor sod has been a cyclops.

Got some amazon basics rechargeable batteries to use in the Snapic but weirdly they don’t fit properly. The battery door doesn’t close. Normal other ones are just fine.

Next week's film is now in cameras. Second roll of switch, some weird Electra 100 fumbled into the Trip and HP5 in the snapic to see how it gets on as it was pretty good with expired XP2. Checked the fridge and the remaining Fuji is all the 800 speed. Not sure what I've been saving that for. Got a few rolls of Delta 3200 knocking about as well. I feel they both ought to be used for something important and not just wanged through like the rest usually are.

Well that was a total waste of time and water. Tried the auto glym hand foamer thing. Awful. Ripped my thumb on it getting it out of the box. Ripped my finger on it getting it open to fill. Doesn't spray for long and the foam at the mentioned dilution is like treacle. Diluted it down and down and down and it took so long to rinse the car off I couldn't be bothered to even finish that, never mind actually wash it 😞

Great. Looks like I misloaded the trip with the Electra 100 twice. Thought I'd got some good pictures yesterday in another gloriously sunny day but nope. Film hadn't caught properly. Brain didn't even register the rewind lever not turning correctly. Happily snapped away for nearly a whole roll of nothing. Reloaded it for the third time. The leader was through the take up spool but it just didn't grab on for some reason. I thought it had but nope. Arrghhh. Can...

Glorious weather out. Wasn't going to go anywhere as it's a bank holiday and that usually means chaos but trolled off to Cholmondeley gardens. Blasted around there with the hi-matic and the dynax 5. Both are about the same weight. So that's the roll of Street candy finally used that has been sat around for years. Last roll of phoenix 1 in the Dynax so hoping for some good spring colour out of that.

As a professional procrastinator with decades of experience this is really interesting. I think I had heard it before recently but not explained as clearly. Well worth watching particularly if you're avoiding doing something else 😀 https://youtu.be/tnVI3AFWPJw?si=xW_pB_dN3Ofdei2W

Not sure about this city block tinted sunscreen/moisturiser stuff. Makes me look like I'm jaundiced. Does protect reasonably against the sun as it's SPF 40. Hmmm.

I was going to try Photo Hippo for the roll of FP4 but filmdev are so good even though B & W is much more than colour to get devved and scanned. £4 a roll is a bit ouch but then the price of postage to somewhere else is also the same ouch. I did used to be dev only but the 5400 scanner I had went on the wonk and there aren't really any good alternatives. It's such a faff compared to a we transfer link in an email too.

My ancestors used to live in Leek so they probably ambled by this building. Now it's probably going to be completely demolished because some scrote set it on fire. It seems to happen all too often on buildings that are left by the owners to rot and councils do the square root of sod all to protect the heritage. https://www.stokesentinel.co.uk/news/stoke-on-trent-news/big-mill-blaze-man-18-10892062

Ooh. Got the FP4 scans back. Turned out more or less how I expected. Used the dynax 40 I got a few weeks ago with another 50mm 1.7 minolta lens on it.

There's an update out for ios 18 that is available on all iphone devices. I guess apple have realised that some people think 26 is so bad they'd rather not even update for security fixes. Previous security update was only for those that couldn't run 26. I guess they realised a lot more people are holding out on purpose. https://9to5mac.com/2026/04/01/apple-releases-ios-18-security-update-for-all-iphone-users-update-now/

Definitely like the Harman Switch Azure. High colour subjects are the most fun as you get more variation and more idea of what it likes to mess with. https://flic.kr/p/2s38GED

I have a nice collection of usable film cameras now. Variety of mechanical and full motor wind automatic. Will this be enough or will the GAS bunny of temptation make me want 'just one more'. The reliability issue is mainly why I have bought a small pile of them as I know some will cark it. The dynax 7 and 7000 both had aperture failure. The canon tele had power failure. The 35ti is iffy at times. Probably why the last buy was another Olympus trip 35 as that is the most likely...
