Just found this gem lurking in a folder: AE_LIVE_ROCHDALE_221290 Performed at Baillies, Baillie St, Rochdale, 22.12.90, for Darrell Fitton's birthday party. Most of the gear we used was from Daz's studio. We spent a week putting it together in the rehearsal room downstairs at Suite 16 studio, which was right behind Dr Rock (Daz's studio was in the loft above Dr Rock). Incidentally - Suite 16 used to be called Cargo, same place Unknown Pleasures was recorded.

i was just listening to our remix of skeng, from 2010, which is 16 years ago so that's roughly the same as sitting down in 1990 and listening to tiger feet by mud you're welcome

thinking about a YT review channel where you review every single thing in your house no matter how mundane, as an art project get like a pack of staples and review every single one, that kinda thing i don't have time for that so you know, have it

@oxy@social.bsdlab.au @rexi@mastodon.social well i guess we'll see - this is kinda what i mean about bubbles, it's 99% buzz they have managed to go net positive in the last year or two though which is *something*

@rexi@mastodon.social @oxy@social.bsdlab.au there's so much fusion buzz rn i'm wondering if it might even pip quantum comp to the post as the next bubble iirc there was ML being used to regulate something in that super small one (sorry i can't rem deets it was a late night YT binge)

@oxy@social.bsdlab.au yeah it's a lot of resources for a slot machine also tangentially related is intermittent reinforcement in psychology - cos this is exactly how slot machines hook people - it makes it so there's no real incentive to make ai systems that actually work all of the time

@oxy@social.bsdlab.au @tsrono@mastodon.social nostalgia for being able to afford 80s hardware is valid nostalgia, fr

@tsrono@mastodon.social tbh i don't usually know without having something for ages anyway, even things that might sound rough in those kinda demos can do stuff i might like, just need to find the edges with it unique is a bit of a double edge sword cos if it has like one special feature then that ends up defining it and you just ID it immediately (which you might want but, ehh)

my dream synth would have two, maybe three oscillators, with a filter, a couple of envelopes, maybe an lfo surely something like that exists
