  fully respect the "no cgi is really just invisible cgi" push but I do think people are starting to do a subtle little motte and bailey where because competent looking movies use cgi, we shouldn't point out the overused-cgi slop house style of disney productions. but they do simply look like ass.

  @SophiaSurname@shrike.club looking into it it seems like it's gotten a bit of a reappraisal. critics historically have been pretty mixed and afaict so have fans of pink floyd... I think probably people who aren't fans of pink floyd mostly just haven't watched it. Roger deriding the film probably didn't help its reputation for a while

  sometimes I feel bad about not "getting", like, when an artist casts a piece of cardboard in bronze then paints it to create a trompe-l'oeil representation of the original object for example then I remember a lot of people still think *abstraction* isn't "real art" and I feel better
