I’m looking for kid-friendly #blockly / #scratch like open source IDEs to program #arduino or #esp32 #microcontrollers. I have a hard time finding the latest. So far I found: *Ardublockly*(https://github.com/carlosperate/ardublockly) but it’s been inactive for 9years. The more recent *Scratch3 OneGpio* (https://mryslab.github.io/s3-extend/) uses the latest scratch IDE, but programs require scratch to run and cannot run standalone on the MCUs.

[unpopular opinion puffin] I think @pluralistic ’s approach won’t fix anything. In the best case it’ll result in a cat and mouse game for a while, but the circumventers will end up on the losing side. We’re already seeing this: Jailbroken phones cannot run banking apps or certain subscription apps due to effective device attestation. The technical toolkit to prevent circumvention is there and relying on exploiting individual bugs is not a future-proof strategy.
