rust as a language has not brought a single improvement to any free project, I'm reaching a point where I consider any rust project actively harmful and disregard any software developer who uses rust for their projects RE: https://social.treehouse.systems/@mgorny/116859899383442779

an interesting thing about the "bad apple" metaphor that a lot of people don't seem to know is that because of the ethylene that apples produce as they ripen, a bad apple causes everything around it to get bad as well (hence the full saying "a bad apple spoils the bunch")

VRAM-Mgmt-fixed fixed for non systemd setups! This is a bit old so I'm surprised not many have talked about it, but in April these (https://pixelcluster.github.io/VRAM-Mgmt-fixed/) patches and tools were released that more efficiently manage VRAM through dmem in cgroups, issue was that because systemd is currently the only one who has a proper cgroup management system, the tools also depended on systemd, not anymore!! I wrote a collection of scripts that set up a systemd-esque cgroup enviro...

here's something fun ive been working on: an interactive callgraph viewer that lets me explore any codebase, mainly made so I can understand systemds mess easier for fun, decided to compare systemds udevadm with gardendevs udevadm: for context, each color is its own component/subfolder in the src directory the systemd callgraph did not fit on my screen. EDIT: script can now be found at https://git.pinkro.se/Rose/doxygen-callgraph.git/about/

Gardenhouse allows for factory resets directly from the installed system! With Rootloader and Stem getting support for multi-profile UKIs, the default Gardenhouse UKI is now built with an extra profile that enables a factory reset A factory reset can also be triggered by setting the efi variable GardenhouseFactoryReset to the contents of /etc/machine-id, which can be easily done with a new tool I made for this called efivar-set which allows setting efi variables from the shell A factory reset...

The gardenhouse live ISO system is now public!! It features an ISO loader profile, as well as two default profiles that provide a day-to-day and a minimal desktop. The ISO loader profile allows users to provide any custom florist profile and convert it into a live ISO with home persistence and ramdisk out of the box, no extra changes needed!!
