VRAM-Mgmt-fixed fixed for non systemd setups! This is a bit old so I'm surprised not many have talked about it, but in April these (https://pixelcluster.github.io/VRAM-Mgmt-fixed/) patches and tools were released that more efficiently manage VRAM through dmem in cgroups, issue was that because systemd is currently the only one who has a proper cgroup management system, the tools also depended on systemd, not anymore!! I wrote a collection of scripts that set up a systemd-esque cgroup environment https://codeberg.org/axtlos/cglaunch With cgroups being (somewhat) fixed, there now also is dmemcg-booster for non systemd: https://codeberg.org/axtlos/dmemcg-boosterd/ And an example booster that uses niri to boost the active application (like the plasma one mentioned in the blog post, but I don't use plasma so :P ): https://codeberg.org/axtlos/dmemcg-niri-booster
