  Today, I have to drive 1.5 hours to the MRI examination for my colon, waiting room, actual MRI, then 1.5 hours back. There is an MRI machine about a quarter of an hour away. But the next appointment is in December...

  Just a quick reminder: if you want food in your garden this winter, it's high time to think about it. Some cabbages and other brassica can still be planted, some are a little too late. Chard, radishes, some things will still work. And while your in your seed boxes: it's soon time for spinach and corn salad. (And to my friends in the Southern Hemisphere: sorry. I know this doesn't apply to you. On the bright side: you get to start thinking about summer planting instead.) #gardenin...

  Maybe I'll just upload my novels to my website as free .epub and call it a day. All those damned shop systems suck in one way or another. I'm not making any money anyway and this way more people might get to enjoy my stories. Hmm. But if I do that, I really can't justify translating them to German, and I really wanna do that.

  Phew, a simple GP visit really is day-filling... Due to three road closures, it took almost 1.5 hours to get there. Then I waited a while in the sun outside the practice. Almost 1.5 hours back, short stop at the post office. Day over... But: I felt as if I was listened to. And I got two referrals for further checking. And we have a hypothesis for what's going on. And I've got my next prescription settled.

  I have to leave for my old/new GP in an hour. I'll have to tell them things that sound impossible, made-up, like utter nonsense. The solution would be to touch me. Many medical people have refused to touch me before, claiming to believe me, later telling me it's impossible. I am trying hard to not be too skeptical. This doctor has always tried to listen, to help, to believe. They have not disappointed me. Hopefully, that'll stay true today.

  During the heat wave last week, which was much less extreme here than in other parts, multiple workers at the local grocery store went home because their metabolisms couldn't manage the heat. I don't want to know how many people are close to collapsing but don't stop and go home while no one even notices a thing...

  Germany just raised minimum wage. The only news coverage is on how expensive this is for the producers. I don't care. What I care about is that even this half-assed raise might mean that a parent gets to eat a full meal instead of going hungry for their children, that someone can build an emergency fun, or that someone can move out because they are no longer as financially dependent. If these were the stories we shared, people might think differently about raising minimum wage.

  I am dreaming about a society of togetherness again... well, or at least one of logic. If it's more expensive to check if someone is really, really, really to sick to work than to just pay a universal base income to everyone, the UBI is the only logical step. If it' smore expensive to control the borders and to manage all the migrants than to just take them all in, open the fucking borders. It's really simple--logical even.

  More than two weeks to even ship my available strain. When I asked how delays like this can be avoided, they told me they aren't responsible for my poor planning.   At some point in the middle of this weird winter, I threw all the imperfect winter green and winter veg seeds into the greenhouse. There were even some moldy onions in the mix. Complete abandon, no water except what condenses and gets into the soil from the outside. Now, there is a chaotic see of green. We'll have to harvest some of these to make room for the tomatoes soon, but most of this gets to stay. #gardening

  I got straw. I got eggs to hatch. I was able to hand over the donations of lovely fediversians who helped my friend travel to say goodbye to a dying mother-in-law with their husband. And, I got to have coffee with said friend. Good day. Exhausting but good.

  I keep watching the eggs in the incubator. I logically know that absolutely nothing is happening at the moment. There's just absolutely normal looking chicken eggs, just like the ones in the fridge, but these are special. You can't see that these are fertilized eggs, that these will be baby chickens very soon. Day 2 begins. #KatesChickens
