During the heat wave last week, which was much less extreme here than in other parts, multiple workers at the local grocery store went home because their metabolisms couldn't manage the heat. I don't want to know how many people are close to collapsing but don't stop and go home while no one even notices a thing...

@rootsandcalluses@mstdn.social I'm afraid a lot of people just aren't even really aware that things are bad, until they get far too bad. I've certainly seen it with people who I deal with regularly. I've seen it with myself. I don't usually step far from safe spaces until I've done a fairly reasonable test to see if it seems like I could accomplish things in the conditions. I feel I'm saying things far too round about. But leaving it like this for now.
