I live in Texas, and as we are preparing for ice and snow in places that don’t know how to handle it, I’m really worried about the ICE detention center in El Paso. It’s a tent city. How on earth are the detainees supposed to stay warm and dry ? It’s barely going to get below freezing, so maybe it’s not a big deal. I haven’t heard anything from any news source about conditions projected there, other than Ted Cruz has once again left the state prior to severe weather and flown to sunny SoCal. 🙄

Found on Facebook, truth. We are all hunkered down. FYI, H-E-B is beloved local grocery chain.

Awesome quote from most recent The Assignment with Audi Cornish podcast: “ I feel like the Gen X cynicism, the Gen Z version of that has curdled into nihilism.” As a Gen X with Gen Z kids, I feel seen.

I was very disappointed with the commercials this year. Most that tried to be super funny or cool just came off as cringe. Anyone see something good?

@tom I hadn’t seen that one, too funny. I lean towards the classics of the Budweiser frogs and where’s the beef old ladies. Sigh, it’s my age showing.

@tom My husband and I still answer the phone with "whasssssup" when we're in a silly mood. My Gen Z kids occasionally watch an "oldie" and, with eyes wide, look at us and say "THAT's where that phrase comes from?" Oh yeah baby. My language in heavily sprinkled with quotes (or mis-quotes) from movies going back 45 years. Our movie quotes represent Gen Z's meme-sphere.
