  Made a map for a park. Sent it. Never heard anything back. Rand into someone from the park and went "Hey - So I sent you an updated map" and the person went "OMG THANK YOU THE ORIGINAL MAP SUCKED". ..and then I sald "I made the Original Map".

  State GIS Conference. Price went up. Early bird discount went away. I'm registering at the very last minute. Getting emails "Hey man you haven't registered" and "Yep - there is no incentive to do this early."

  Went down the twitter rabbit hole this weekend. Everything seems to be "grok take this person''s clothes off" and so much spam. I followed one post - a "spam bot" - who was promoting reddit. I found posts there that a either originated on tiktok, instagram, or facebook or would end up there. It was amazingly awful.

  One person I used to follow made the jump to mastodon when musk took over. She lasted a bit and then went to Blue sky. Blue sky has an engagement problem and she went back to twitter. I use to enjoy her posts - still do as I breezed through them....but I can't go back up there.

  My So called Life as a Map Maker I can sum it up: It's not much of one. Way back in my younger days I was infatuated with ArcPlot (which was the plotting portion of ArcINFO). From there I moved to Arcview, ArcMap, and eventually here to QGIS. All of my work typically revolves around Data. I usually deliver data. I hardly ever deliver a map.   Next fedora release is tomorrow. Fedora 44 - and I'm wondering how QGIS is going to do on it. I'll wait a month or so before upgrading - but I worry with this jump to wayland with no X11 what will break.

  The Big Tn Conference By the time you read this I will be sitting in the outskirts of Nashville Tennessee for the annual State Wide GIS Conference. I've attended this conference for the last 15 or so years off and on. There were come years I missed - some I went joyfully...some I just went. One time....maybe 3 times I was a vendor.
