Jack of many trades, still manage to be okay at some of them. Always welcome some tips, tricks, and enhancements I can apply to make the home server run harder, better, faster, and/or stronger especially as far as networking goes (my biggest weakness by far).  Partaker of many, many games (video or otherwise). Really trying to take a positive spin on the state of the the tech landscape right now. I think that a big positive we can take away from some of this insanity is that it is forcing manufacturers and users to do more with what they already have. Not chasing the new shiny means being more efficient and mindful of waste. I see that only as a good thing,. Hopefully it&#39;s a mindset that gets carried forward.

I think my posts are broken. Let me check. &lt;.&lt; &gt;.&gt; I hated Expedition 33 and I wish I could have gotten my money back for wasting my time with it. It only made me want to play the good versions of the games it was paying tribute to like Final Fantasy 7 (which I ALSO don&#39;t like. Friggin&#39; Cloud giving himself a complex just because he likes a girl) and Super Mario RPG.

Ah. Right. The &quot;privilege&quot; of self-hosting means actually having to check the admin console of the stuff I&#39;m using. Looks like my Elasticsearch for Mastodon had gotten stale/wonky. Needed to run some refresh commands, but it&#39;s green lights now. Hoping that helps smooth things a little bit.

Giving my #bookwyrm instance some exercise. Re-reading Armor, one of my long-standing favorite books. I think this might be one of my first instances of my love of layered story-telling (which you will understand if you give it a read).

I have a special loathing for software companies that require you to have an active support contract with them to allow you to use it (usually by way of withholding licensing). My company has spent thousands upon thousands of dollars on 3 licenses for a piece of software and as soon as they decide to not pay, we&#39;re left with nothing to show for all of that investment (beyond historically accomplished work).

Re-watching Interstella 5555 with my kid. It is still fantastic on so many different levels. The fact that it actually has really solid story-telling with zero dialog is really something else. Also Discovery remains one of the greatest albums. Truly just a bunch of &quot;daft punk&quot;.

Just read the manga of No Longer Allowed In Another World and I am convinced that Sensei is just @prettygood but from 1948 and less beard. Strangely, this comparison more of a compliment than you might assume from exhibit A.

*deep, composed breaths* I don’t suppose anyone has any expertise on storage and could offer any advice or tips on how to identify whether or not a drive/drives are silently bad and somehow taking down a whole server? SMART all checks out on them. Other possibilities still include the RAID card (It’s an LSI model, but I would have to look it up) or cabling for the hot swap bays. Since the problem persisted after a full wipe I THINK I can exclude self-inflicted configuration problems.

Over a year&#39;s worth of upgrades and (bad) manual configuration tweaks seem to have caught up to me. Too many sussy errors in the logs. Looks like it&#39;s time to flatten-and-reload the server. But first, backups. That said, if OMV continues to test my patience like this, I think it&#39;ll be time for a change. Either that or a deeper dive on my hardware set-up since I could have screwed that up, too. #selfhosted #computerdiy

Dang - I find myself feeling weirdly positive about Monday and this week in spite of the coming poo-storm of the upcoming weekend. I guess I can&#39;t share dark humor memes about Monday.
