I have a special loathing for software companies that require you to have an active support contract with them to allow you to use it (usually by way of withholding licensing). My company has spent thousands upon thousands of dollars on 3 licenses for a piece of software and as soon as they decide to not pay, we're left with nothing to show for all of that investment (beyond historically accomplished work).
