Today has been a bitch, but at least I got to wear my Victorian cat portrait shirt. It brings me joy.

Today was peacefully boring, which is a rare treat. And I got to clean a ridiculous amount of smegma from a mouse's prepuce, which was very satisfying. Guy was carrying around a bag of rocks down there. He has to feel better now. #VetMed

Grabbed the sunscreen and cold drinks for a stroll through the sculpture garden today. Here are some of my favorites. I love how the placement of each sculpture highlights the natural beauty of New Orleans City Park.

Step 1 of this recipe makes me smile. Alas, I was not able to procure beet root powder so my marinade lacks the colour of a prized Chelsea rose.

We went to our little neighborhood café for dinner. It was lovely sitting on the covered patio, listening to the rain fall, and stuffing a burger in my face. There was a small group of college boys at the table near us. Date night Date night Date night! We would be remiss if we didn't order the Oysters Rockefeller at the restaurant that invented Oysters Rockefeller in 1899. Next was after dinner digestif at a nearby tiki bar, where the owner regaled us with the tale of the origins of the Mango Lasso (see the picture below). There was big drama club kid energy in the storytelling.

My coworker found a weak and cold baby opossum on Saturday. A veterinarian friend gave him some supportive care. The picture she sent me this morning shows a much perkier and angy boy.
