  For Aussies with NBN internet service, the wholesale offerings have changed to have higher speeds across the board. For plans in the middle of the speed range, you may now be able to get faster service for the same or less money! I think the cheapest plans have just gotten more expensive and expensive ones got faster but might cost more (depending as well on how much your ISP wants to charge), but at least for me I can now increase speed and spend less.

  A consumer law success story! A row of pixels on my slightly-more-than-two-years-old Sony TV failed (such that it always displays a white horizontal line at the same point). I contacted support who responded (as expected) that it needed repair or replacement to fix that. They offered an unspecified amount of credit toward a new TV or to put me in contact with the repair provider (which would cost me), but after citing consumer law they've agreed to repair it for free!

  I recall reading about PyScript (https://pyscript.net/; runs Python code in script tags in your web page) a while ago and thinking it was neat, but not obviously useful when you have a JavaScript runtime right there (even if I do prefer Python). This weekend I actually got to use it, since somebody had thrown together a simple Tk GUI which seemed more useful if it could run in a browser. So quick and dirty porting of existing Python is an okay use case.

  https://mastodon.decentralised.social/@wezm/115682534066317615 I hadn't seen these before, but the cute case and good hackability got me to buy one of the S3 variants that's designed for hacking on (no need to open the case). ESPhome is a very easy platform to play with, but I have yet to decide what kinds of things I want to make it display.

  Hey, OkLCH seems like a nice colorspace to use when specifying colors on computer displays! https://evilmartians.com/chronicles/oklch-in-css-why-quit-rgb-hsl I wouldn't say I find it easier to mentally estimate what a color looks like given the hue angle compared to an RGB triple, but it still seems comprehensively better than either RGB or HSL. (ht @yuki )
