#3goodthinks #ThreeGoodThings Three good things today: 🌱 Delicious oolong in a small gaivan; I got the tea for my birthday. 🌱 My wife’s sister’s birthday party—I’m very tired, but I feel good. 🌱 I’m on call with a colleague who has an injured leg. Nothing’s happening, which is good. Any potential incident would be complicated.

#3goodthinks #ThreeGoodThings Three good things today: 🌱 Visiting the library, borrowing books. 🌱 Seeing my therapist. I’ve really missed that. 🌱 I’m making kimchi from napa cabbage grown by people in the community. Apparently, they had a bumper crop, and they’d heard of kimchi before. The mixture is almost entirely cabbage and garlic. And some dried chili peppers that are a few years old. That’s pretty much all I have.

#3goodthinks #ThreeGoodThings Three good things today: 🌱 Sleep and rest. That’s a rare treat for me, and I really appreciate it. 🌱 Mounting a large monitor – which I got from a friend (he’s a photographer and will probably get a better one soon) – onto a flexible arm. Good hardware for free. 🌱 Miso soup made from cabbage and garlic, followed by roasted courgette, Hokkaido pumpkin and potatoes, sprinkled with marjoram. It’s still in the oven.

#3goodthinks #ThreeGoodThings Three good things today: 🌱 Lunch and a fun afternoon with a group of homeless people who work in a cleanup crew. 🌱 A friend gave me a bigger monitor that he no longer needs. 🌱 Taking the train home from work instead of the bus—the train has air conditioning and even pulls into the platform a quarter of an hour early. We’re having extreme temperatures here, so choosing to wear loose Asian-style pants was a good call.

#3goodthinks #ThreeGoodThings Three good things today: 🌱 I took a day off work today. To relax. 🌱 Brown lentil dhal cooked by my wife, and who knows how manyth infusion of oolong tea I’ve had from the set I was given for my birthday. 🌱 An introduction to Zen meditation for the public, which we hold at the tea house every month. I’m the one who handles the welcome and the farewell. And in between, I act as a model when demonstrating the seated meditation posture. Some lovely people turned up.

#3goodthinks #ThreeGoodThings Three good things today: 🌱 I went to Mass at a Catholic church this morning. The Mass was said for my family. I was standing in for my wife. I had a lovely chat with the priest. 🌱 Homemade flatbreads. As well as wheat flour, I used peanut flour from food aid. Very tasty. 🌱 Sitting in the woods. I’m sitting under a tree, looking around, listening to the sounds, shooing away the mosquitoes.

I took this photo of a stonecrop flower in a hilly, wooded landscape, in the valley where we’ve now set up a community for homeless people. The stonecrops grow in the stone walls along the path. It’s wonderful that I can go there several times a week. When I drive there in the morning, there are sometimes still wisps of mist hanging over the woods. #nature #bloomscrolling #macrophoto

#3goodthinks #ThreeGoodThings Three good things today: 🌱 I slept in this morning. But I didn’t feel like sleeping any longer, so I got up and had some bread, tofu and onion for breakfast. 🌱 I’m making a creamy Hokkaido pumpkin soup with a tofu dip to go with it. 🌱 I had a phone call with my daughter and then had a chat with my wife. I haven’t posted on Mastodon for a long time; it’s been a tough week and I’ve been very tired. I’m glad to be writing again.

#3goodthinks #ThreeGoodThings Three good things today: 🌱 It rained yesterday and it’s raining today, too. We haven’t had a good rain here in many weeks. 🌱 A visit with my wife’s father and his family. 🌱 A bath with a teapot of green tea within reach. And a book.

#3goodthinks #ThreeGoodThings Three good things today: 🌱 Spent the whole day with my family—my daughters and my grandson. The only things that can stop that little one are hunger or sleep. I remembered how to tie a baby sling in a cross-carry position, after twenty years. My grandson was happy in the sling. 🌱 A lot of online work done in a short amount of time. An ADHD skill. 🌱 Baked potatoes with zucchini, sprinkled with marjoram and oregano.

I took a photo of Lythrum salicaria by a stream while I was watering my guerrilla garden on my way home from work. It was Friday, and I was pretty exhausted. Taking photos is my anchor—in that moment, I pause and realize that I can stop. I also stop the flow of my thoughts and just take a photo. If it doesn’t turn out right, I take another one. I focus. That’s samadhi. It’s not hard; anyone can do it—the question is, for how long? #nature #macrophoto #bloomscrolling

#3goodthinks #ThreeGoodThings Three good things today: 🌱 A long sleep and more rest while lying down, reading. 🌱 Good Indian tea, Darjeeling. 🌱 I’m teaching my wife how to use the online banking app.

#3goodthinks #ThreeGoodThings Three good things today: 🌱 At work today, it was really just the satisfaction of a job well done. I’m either giving updates, negotiating, or writing. And the news that we’ll be getting a bonus with our paycheck. 🌱 Boiled potatoes, roasted zucchini, and gochujang. 🌱 Taking photos of flowers on my bike ride home from work.

#3goodthinks #ThreeGoodThings Three good things today: 🌱 For the first time in a while, I have the energy to write something in the evening. 🌱 I wrote the community guidelines for people experiencing homelessness. We’ll be adding to and revising them as a team. 🌱 I cycled a lot of kilometers today in temperatures around 30°C, but I feel good.

#3goodthinks #ThreeGoodThings Three good things today: 🌱 A long sleep, finally, after such a long time. 🌱 A session at the family counseling center. A chance to talk about what we’re going through. 🌱 Dhal made with carrots, onions, potatoes, napa cabbage, tomato paste, ginger, garlic, and red lentils.

#SilentSunday This year, for the first time, I waded across the river. The water was cold as you’d expect in the spring. Once my feet got used to it, I waded upstream along the gravel banks avoiding the deep spots. People don’t go there anymore; there are only animal tracks in the sand. A hornet flew by confidently navigating across the river. Several large animals passed through the forest along the bank; against the sun, I couldn’t tell what they were. They didn’t notice me. I love it. #nature

#3goodthinks #ThreeGoodThings Three good things today: 🌱 I started learning how to set up a remote connection between two computers running Debian. 🌱 Today, a walk in the floodplain forest, lots of flowers, with my work team. We walked around and chatted. It was nice there. I found out that getting tired people into the forest is easy. I just wrote it down in our work calendars as a meeting. 🌱 Made two kilos of hummus, half with red bell pepper.

The maple trees are now in bloom in the forest (and in the city, for that matter). Today I photographed this Acer platanoides in the forest. I find these flowers beautiful; at no other time of year do I see such a bright green-yellow color. The large trees shine in the dark forest like clouds of light, and the small trees near the ground, which have only a few fl owers, look like clusters of fireflies. #nature #naturephotography #trees #BloomScrolling #macro #SilentSunday

Today, once again, I heard a rather intelligent person imply that this activism—the fight for democracy, for human rights, for saving the planet from climate change—is just a hobby. I suppose I deserve respect, even if it’s strange. But I have to do something to entertain myself in my free time. Once again, I found myself wondering for a moment if I really understand cause and effect. I’m convinced that all of this will bring enormous suffering if we don’t stop it. Am I wrong? Am I crazy?

Lidi, koukněte se do šuplíků. Pokud máte doma nepoužívaný notebook, mám pro něj využití - vyčistím a přeinstaluji ho, a může ho dostat někdo potřebný. I nepříliš výkonný počítač může pomoct s hledáním práce, získáváním informací a podobně. Můžu naučit s počítačem zacházet i ty, kteří to moc neumí, což jim opět rozšíří možnosti uplatnění. Dejte mi vědět! Dělám to už roky, poprvé zkouším na Mastodonu. #czech #computer #socialwork

Today we dug up a Cetoniina beetle—actually a small scarab—from a flower bed in the garden. After taking a photo, I buried it again so it could hibernate until it’s ready to emerge. Its shell is beautiful. As humans, we’ve managed to create things with beautiful designs, but let’s be honest—nature was doing this long before our species even existed. #nature #macro #macrophotography #insects

@jwz@mastodon.social @cstross@wandering.shop The important thing is that after slaughtering someone, they apologize for misunderstanding the prompt and for not realizing how uncomfortable it is for a person to have their head chopped off. And that now that everything has been clarified, they hope for further pleasant cooperation.
