  My charity budget is running a small surplus at the moment. Do the ppl in this community have any suggestions? I usually support malaria treatment, cash transfers, carbon removal, and Wikipedia; but I'm becoming worried about politics and big tech. (I know TESCREAL is a whole nasty thing.   Bongino on the difference between being a successful podcaster and holding government office: "I’m not paid for my opinions anymore. I work for the taxpayer. I’m paid on evidence." Unusually self-aware for anyone in the current US administration, and also a great summary of the problem with an engagement-driven media environment. I'm reframing this as people being paid for the magnitude of their opinions, not the quality.

  Just cancelled a prescription subscription from one of those American men's "health" companies that advertise everywhere. One of the ones that blurs the line between a medical practice and a phone app for ordering hair loss and erection pills. After finding my subscription's cancel button and clicking it, I had to confirm it FIVE TIMES ON DIFFERENT PAGES. Cue the drip campaign of SMS messages asking me to reconsider. 🤦
