Tell me you didn't watch my talk without telling me you didn't watch my talk. https://www.theregister.com/columnists/2026/08/03/claude-code-is-revolutionizing-digital-archaeology-enterprise-better-dig-it/5281676 - I never said I designed the Transputer accelerator, I built it from parts I got from the guy who designed it in the 80s. - I said I used Claude because I ran out of time and the code wasn't working. All but one of the fixes on the RISC OS side were human-done... and I sti...

Speaking of the Sinclair C5 - I hear it has a ULA to control the battery logic. Anyone know where I can get my hands on a dead ULA to decap? I have a wild idea which might lead to a like-for-like ULA replacement. (boosts appreciated)

I wish whoever organised the #emf2026 #emfcamp Elon Burning had given about fifteen or twenty minutes notice... Five wasn't quite long enough to get myself and a friend with mobility issues to the lakeside to watch ;( (Also pls use a human voice for your wardials, I thought someone was pratting around with the phones...)

Engaged with the "process" as asked, and all I've got is demands and a demand that I "guess what the problem is" and "offer any information you think might help explain". I feel like I'm in a non-consensual re-enactment of Kafka's "The Trial". If you don't tell people what they've done wrong, how can they learn and improve? How can there be any trust? Honestly really just - don't know how to feel about #emfcamp #emf2026 right now...

EMF says everyone should feel comfortable attending. That depends on trust in organisers’ judgement. EMF's Villages organiser says a group they’re part of can “bypass the CFP”, jokes about having a “vested interest”, then jokes about someone accused of serious animal abuse. On top of everything else - I don't know what to think or how to feel about this. Context (CW animal abuse): https://dogpatch.press/2025/10/23/uk-furry-zoosadist/ Public chat; unrelated names and avatars redacted.

I got tired of debugging SIP fax lines manually and annoying Marrold with dumb questions and my own stupidity. So I made this. It receives a fax, analyses the data and audio from it, and looks for common flamingo-ups like G711 alaw and ulaw mismatches or lossy resamplers. It can also detect failures in T.38->G.711 fallback and report that. Bonus: it tells you what your fax machine can do. And then it sends you a fax back with the result. And instruments that too!

Had my website taken down by a bunch of asshole AI bots sitting behind Alibaba Cloud and running what was effectively a DDoS. I've blocked both their ASNs as a result. If you were doing something legitimate with my content, please get in touch and I'll add an exception rule.

Well, today I learned about https://cppinsights.io/ and as cool as it is, the demo code with the range expression over an array makes me think "I can see why that works but I wouldn't have written it that way".

Librarians of a certain vintage, are any of you aware of a surviving copy of the BLCMP (Birmingham Libraries Co-operative Mechanisation Project) library automation software? It existed in the 1980s and 1990s before being replaced with other systems like Talis or Dynix. I'd love to see it running again! (also see vga256's post looking for a copy of Dynix ILS - https://dialup.cafe/@vga256/113822702847532196) #libraries #digipres
