Drinks at a fair served in hard-plastic cups, with a €2 deposit. You get your deposit back by scanning the QR code, and giving your bank details &amp; phone number. Haven’t seen that deposit scheme before, maybe it’s new, or maybe I don’t get out enough. Don’t like it, though.

Nice moment at Jazz Middelheim today, at the end of Ola Tunji’s set, Ornella Noulet commented that four years before, when she had only recently moved to Belgium, she was in the audience, and now she was on the stage. “It’s like, no, it is a dream come true.” I think she’s the most interesting saxophonist in Belgium, see her if you can. https://olatunjiband.com/ #Jazz #OlaTunji #JazzMiddelheim

Feeling a bit tired after the #BrusselsJazzWeekend Fri-Sun, and catching the last day of #JazzMiddelheim (today). Four shows over the weekend and 5 sets today. Would have stayed for more today, but Oh That Bright Sunshine! and getting home from the Antwerp venue takes a while by bus &amp; train. Today had a lot of high energy jazz with no apologies — my favourite kind (wait, or is hard bop my favourite? Can I have two?). Recorded most of the shows… fingers crossed (esp for today’s sets).

What will all the AI data centers be used for once the AI bubble bursts? It’s a lot of computing power, and I don’t see that being thrown away… what are they really going to use it for, after push comes to shove?
