Hey Mastodon hivemind: Does anybody have experience starting up a US-based 501(c)(3) non-profit for a small organization (in my case, an academic journal)? No employees, very small board, only the need to have an entity that can legally hold copyrights and ownership that isn't any of the individuals involved, so that the entity could survive someone going rogue. Would appreciate being able to ask a couple of questions and/or see if there's any pitfalls I'm not considerin...

Me: Oh, hey, if they're discontinuing OSF projects, I should go finally delete my account, I won't need it anymore. OSF: We have disabled your account. Contact support to have it reopened. Me: Well, after having had my account closed *twice* already for being a "potential spammer," I guess you guys can just have it now. Good riddance.

I'm not actually going to do it, because I have better stuff to do, but it would be *so* much fun to try to speedrun getting as many publications in as many widely diverse scam paper mill journals as possible. I get stuff from Journal of Soil Science. Surgery. Journal of Electrical Engineering and Semiconductor Design. Humanities Communications. You could have the *wildest* CV

It's early, still, and things could turn around (he said with entirely unjustifiable optimism), but a graph like this is a signal of generational damage and an utter abdication of global scientific leadership. Let's get to work, Europe.

Blues Traveler's "Hook" really is simultaneously a great send-up of pop songs and a freaking *bop*

Gent Marathon: 4:34:44. Slower by about 10 minutes than I was hoping for, but that's the race I had in me today. I maybe could have hit sub-4:30 if I had been a bit more conservative over the first 30k, but I was on an aggressive plan, and burned out my gears for the last 10k. Dropped to a Galloway-style run/walk from around 30k-39k, kicked at the end, and still got a clean finish with a time I'm very proud of. And Gent is such a gorgeous town...! Next: push to sub-2h HM in June...

Finally set up Iocaine + NSoE on my homelab today. Claude is scraping me at 750 hits/minute. Apparently I now need to set up ratelimiting and/or fail2ban, but that's for future Pence. (Also worthy of note: this is a test deployment. I only deployed this on *parked domain endpoints without a real site.*)
