We're #hiring at PowerDash! I know there are a lot of people in my network with the perfect mix of skills for this role — full stack with a strong #Python / #Django bent. Throw your hat in, or pass the word. It's a great little company in an important space. Office is in Cambridge (Harvard Square). Role is on-site or hybrid. If you're interested in the state of the AI bubble, take a moment and run from a.ai to z.ai in your browser. (I'll admit I didn't make it all the way through.)

Today I shipped my first big change to production at my new job. Learned a lot about our dev tooling and our cloud environments along the way. Funny. In that situation, after you’ve taken great care to do it right, and pre-checked everything, and gotten it reviewed and approved, and tried it out in lower environments… when you deploy and it works without a hitch, some part of you is surprised!

Today was my first day in my new role, Principal Software Engineer at PowerDash.com. I'm very happy with the team, the company, and the product. I'm excited to be digging in. My pro-tip for job hunters: Find smaller job boards of specific companies or communities where you want to work. I found this gig by replying with curiosity to an old posting on a less-well-traveled job board. I didn’t even expect a reply; I ended up scoring a great job.

Maybe being a web programmer just makes me more attuned to failures, or maybe there's some kind of karmic justice paying out… but OMG. You've been there, right? I'll spare you the details of this last one but the punchline is that I wrote a detailed plea for help in the "Contact us" form, but couldn't submit it because the form processing endpoint returned nothing but 400s. LOLcry

I've been getting a couple of these solicitations a week. You? > Subject: Potential Long-Term Collaboration Opportunity > … I’m looking to team up with someone who enjoys working directly with clients — handling communication, calls, and coordination — while I focus on the technical execution. I believe this could turn into a solid long-term collaboration where we both benefit and grow together. …

Interesting GitHub thread of the week: https://github.com/chardet/chardet/issues/327 """ Hi, I'm Mark Pilgrim … original author of chardet … it has been brought to my attention that, in the release 7.0.0, the maintainers claim to have the right to “relicense” the project. They have no such right; doing so is an explicit violation of the LGPL. """ Continues until thread "locked as too heated".
