  somewhat recently, i had an Event (personal, physical) which has done something to my vision; to combat the color-sensitive photophobia i have developed, i have since put every device i use with any measure of exclusivity in a permanent “night shift” black and white state. strangely, the rich greens of my houseplants does me no harm, but the blaring color of a screen is too painful to bear. i’m thankful to have this option #today.

  Some good #writing done this morning, and now, as the SUN bakes the pave, i will go and sit in the dapple and read. For now, ｢lupercal｣ rests at 84k. If i commit 2k words per day to it, i’ll meet my #writingMonth challenge. As ever, it will come down to health. I can (most likely, and thankfully) make the time, but that will be meaningless if i’m too ill to work. And now, time to honor the SUN and those who came here before me.

  do i have among my followers an apiarist, or anyone who studies bees? 🐝 i saw a post claiming something which read to me as a bit far-fetched. my own research yielded no answers, and would like to ask an expert how possible the post is. (i’d would rather not spread something fake in the meantime!) boosts welcome! :fediverse:

  @cstross@wandering.shop when i went to look it up for my own education, the first definition on wiktionary says, “An entity that lends its name to another entity,” which was my understanding! but then it does have a strange subsection, “A person with the same name as another,” which then has itself two subsections both stating one is named after another. i wonder if it’s a regional or temporal difference? i’d never heard it used like xará!

  @cstross@wandering.shop doesn’t that imply a relationship between, as one named for the other? xará is coincidental: “Ah, we are both named Fulano, how fun!” It’s mostly used between age peers.
