@cstross@wandering.shop when i went to look it up for my own education, the first definition on wiktionary says, “An entity that lends its name to another entity,” which was my understanding! but then it does have a strange subsection, “A person with the same name as another,” which then has itself two subsections both stating one is named after another. i wonder if it’s a regional or temporal difference? i’d never heard it used like xará!
