SETI hasn't succeeded so far in bringing home a reptilian friend from the galaxy nearby. A thing is that the abundance of self-assessed Intelligence like our own might not be a thing. In the end we are such an intelligent specie that we could develop new viruses, the Fiat Duna and the whole Maga thing. An absolute total of self-harming smartness that you can hardly reproduce. I think a SETS project might have much better chances of succeeding.

I love Doctorow's way to describe it: we are becoming Reverse Centaurs

Have you noticed lately you can replace in most online conversations the word 'agentic' with 'Prozac' and they still make sense?

I am not sure why everyone feels so confident in setting 1.1.1.1 as DNS or 8.8.8.8 like those entities were your friends. You are just handing over your entire browsing history to the worst data brokers around. The same kind of spam calls that you get and leave you wondering how they got your data: they already have everything about you, there's no way this is fine. And BTW Dns over Https or Dns over Tls is still a scam if you default to the same Dns servers as above.

I really Really REALLY wanted a Cassandra client which doesn't depend on some legacy Python and the whole IF 2.7... dependency jungle. Turns out, it was just easier to build one myself with GoLang. One single executable to move around and that's all. https://code.kevwe.com/cqlminus.git #cqlminus #altgit

The T9 has doubled its efficiency year over year, it went from guessing your contacts surnames to auto-complete full pancake recipes, to reproposing embarassing chunks of real conversations. You can use it to autocomplete your homeworks, or pretend you did not copy stuff directly from someone else, or some successful Open Source library. You can use it to autocomplete secret girlfriends, migrants home address, someone else's credit card, or just as your own personal Emacs psychiatrist.

We must slow down the frontier Shell scripts. Dario agreed with me and he's unilaterally started doing it. Osama and X-man will follow. Will need to put some sleep 10 into the shell code, between one row and the other. It will be a lot of effort, but this will Pace the Frontier and save the worst part of humanity from Open Source models.

I hear Sovereign this, Sovereign that all the time, then people, shop, governments save all of their own inboxes on some provider from the US. Didn't you know that you can register your own domain, and host your email yourself? How difficult is it that? How expensive is it NOT doing it, since now you don't own anything, and if you click the wrong button your private conversations might be used to train a chatbot? Does even people know that they have another option?

Since I know you've been listening, you know that NOT RUNNING your own email server is bad, because Google uses your private email to guess what you are buying, and other names well... will train an AI that will look smart to you because it has read all of your private conversations.

Now that DHH has retired, there might be room for some more innovations, I guess I have my dotfiles too, not really going to make a Linux distro just out of it,
