# Pachli 3.8.0 is released This release introduces support for notifications about #collections, improves compatibility with #iceshrimpdotnet servers (by @c@fedi.cpf.sh, their first contribution to Pachli), fixes a crash, and ensures follower/following relationships are updated if you block a server. https://pachli.app/pachli/2026/07/30/3.8.0-release.html?utm_medium=social&utm_source=mastodon&utm_campaign=release-3.8.0 #Pachli #MastoDev #AndroidDev

@c@fedi.cpf.sh just contributed some changes to #pachli that update the set of supported features (https://github.com/pachli/pachli-android/pull/2387) if your account is on a server running #iceshrimpdotnet. You can now quote, schedule posts, use supported search operators, and create filters. These changes are in Pachli Current now, and will be in the regular Pachli release at the end of this month.

Quick update on the #collections support that's coming in #Pachli. Here's two collection notifications. The first one is hidden (in this case, I hid it, but it may also have been marked sensitive) and blurred like sensitive attachments. The background colour is to distinguish collections from quotes and link previews. The visibility of the collection is always shown. Still iterating on design and accessibility features, but the first Pachli Current with this should be out so...

    # Pachli 3.7.2 is released This fixes a crash when processing corrupt notification data, thanks to @lucas@toot.treffenstaedt.de for reporting this (their first contribution to #Pachli). This release also includes translation updates: - Kabyle by @ButterflyOfFire@mstdn.fr https://pachli.app/pachli/2026/07/02/3.7.2-release.html?utm_medium=social&utm_source=mastodon&utm_campaign=release-3.7.2 #MastoDev #AndroidDev

Hi folks -- according to the analytics on https://pachli.app (umami.is, "No cookies, no tracking across sites, no personal data collection"), roughly 5% of this account's followers click through to read the release notes for each release. If you're one of the 95% who isn't reading the release notes, and you have a bit of time, could you provide feedback on why you don't? I'd like them to be useful, and they highlight everyone else who ha...

#Pachli Current now highlights the hashtags you follow. Within a post any hashtags you follow are shown in bold. The info area above a post shows a hash-marker and the first followed tag in the post. This helps answer the "Why is this post in my timeline?" question. The attached screenshot shows an example with the #mastodev hashtag. Thanks to @neatnit, @_nibbles, and @quaff for the suggestions about this.

RE: https://mastodon.social/@pachli/116439104589886199 This is more popular than I'd expected. Normally when I introduce new options I keep the previous behaviour as the default and people have to explicitly switch to the new behaviour. I'm considering reversing that for this change, and have underlining links be the default behaviour for all users.

Do you write a lot of drafts? Are you juggling and revising multiple scheduled posts? Dealing with lots of clicks in the Pachli UI to manage them? The latest #Pachli Current (on GitHub now, Google Play soon) allows you to add "Drafts" and "Scheduled posts" to tabs. Either: - Open "Account preferences > Tabs", and add them there. - Or, open "Drafts" or "Scheduled posts", and tap the "Add t...

@Aeneas How are the Pachli translation settings configured (https://pachli.app/pachli/2025/08/28/2.16.0-release.html#support-on-device-translation-if-installed-from-google-play)? If "How to translate" is set to "Server only" it's possible your server is having an issue with their translation service. /cc @Anoxinon in case they need to investigate.

@Aeneas Hmm, this is two problems. 1. Pachli should not be showing the translation menu option on fedifreu.de because the server can't translate. That's a Pachli bug, I've noted it at https://github.com/pachli/pachli-android/issues/2173. Thanks for raising this. 2. The 503 error from anoxinon means the server is rejecting the translation request. That's definitely a problem that @Anoxinon will need to investigate (https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/HTT...

If you're using #Pachli Current and use the on-device #translation feature, would you mind taking a look at "Preferences > Manage language packs"? You shouldn't notice any difference from previous behaviour. If you do notice a difference please let me know. To explain - at #Google there are two ways to do things. The way that works but is deprecated, and the way that doesn't work yet.

@Aeneas @Anoxinon What error does Pachli report with your social.anoxinon.de account? https://fedifreu.de (if that's the other server you mean) doesn't support server-side translation. Tusky doesn't support on-device translation, so if you want to use translation on fedifreu.de you'll need to use Pachli's on-device translation support (https://pachli.app/pachli/2025/08/28/2.16.0-release.html#support-on-device-translation-if-installed-from-google-play, onl...

@Aeneas That's absolutely fine. As the blog post notes: > While the library is free to use it is not open source. As some Pachli users may want to avoid proprietary libraries this feature is not present on Pachli installed from F-Droid or GitHub. If this is you then you can skip the rest of this section. That's why Pachli gives you the choice of where to install from. To forestall the next question: I was unable to find an open source library with similar functionality...

@Aeneas Getting back to your original question -- if translation is failing on anoxinon.de Pachli should show an error message at the bottom of the screen when that happens. What does that say / can you send a screenshot? That will help understand the problem.

Two quote-related changes in yesterday's #Pachli Current. 1. In a post with a content warning that quotes another, the quoted post is hidden until you click through the content warning. 2. If your server is running Mastodon 4.4.5 or above you can how search for posts that quote other posts. When searching, open the search filters, and the second row has a new "chip" allow you to choose whether to show or hide posts with quotes.
