RE: https://mastodon.social/@pachli/116439104589886199 This is more popular than I'd expected. Normally when I introduce new options I keep the previous behaviour as the default and people have to explicitly switch to the new behaviour. I'm considering reversing that for this change, and have underlining links be the default behaviour for all users.

@pachli@mastodon.social Basically great, if it's an accessibilty option! If it's default for all posts, I fear posts could become less legible if peeps use a lot of all sorts of links in the same post.

@pachli@mastodon.social I'd rather it not be the default but that's not a strong opinion.

@pachli@mastodon.social On _principle_ that would violate the Rule of Least Surprise... AND if the community is _overwhelmingly_ for it? maybe the rule should be a guideline. One other question: What would this do to a screen reader? (Does Pachli in fact play nice with text to speech atall?)

@pachli@mastodon.social Interesting. I understand that presenting too many options to people right away is a bad user experience. How about presenting presets, normal (default), high contrast, and custom. High contrast preset would enable few options, underline all links being one of them. Adding "Custom" only to suggest people that those options aren't all or none kind of deal, and even more options are available in settings. Would presets be a good way to reduce decision fatigue?
