what if the entire internet became federated somehow? like for example restaurants would run their own server that would take care of ordering and perhaps food delivery too which would handle what used to be toast and doordash. or if there was something like that for ticketmaster where a smaller venue would host their own service that would handle the storefront and a qr to scan at the door

Luddism offers the comfort of a clear enemy —the machine— instead of the harder work of transforming the social relations that determine who the machine serves. it's politically legible, emotionally satisfying, and strategically useless.

the position that "the technology itself is the problem" is functionally identical to the empire's position that technology belongs to them. you cede the entire terrain. they thank you for it.

Luddism mistakes the means of production for the relations of production. the machine isn't the enemy. the property relation that puts the machine in the hands of the class that extracts from you-- that's the enemy. smashing the machine leaves the property relation intact. the mill owner buys another one. you're still broke.
