Delighted to wake up to Vimjoyer's intro video to devenv, which you should watch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oj9AxyiaVvU I've been using devenv for a year, combining the best of: - docker, - package management, - per-project toolling, - task running all without the overhead of containers. It's the power of nix without the upfront complexity of nix π

:youtube_logo: New video! I've just published a tiny command-line tool called Savepoint. It's a command watcher that commits when you fix errors, automating a TDD workflow. I hope it's handy! (it's especially good for #rust projects!) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZBa3BK4Efcw

Working with LLMs is like working with asbestos. π° Really cheap for the business (the CEO LOVES it!), β οΈ Poison for the workers (the effects are subtle and long-lasting), β We need unions to push back against mandates requiring it, πΌ And, eventually, governments must regulate this national health catastrophe. #ai

:rust: `bacon clippy` basically taught me Rust. I would not have the job that I do today without the work of the excellent @dystroy, who ALSO built #broot #dysk, #lazy-regex and a bunch of other Rust tools! The crazy thing? Despite this, he's currently looking for a job or freelance work - imagine having him on your team! If you're not hiring, you can support him directly, like I've just done, right here: https://github.com/sponsors/Canop

I've spent my whole life chasing ergonomics tricks and hacks to solve my constant back problems and, most recently, terrible RSI. This year I rediscovered powerlifting, and it's changed my LIFE, and now I'm making it YOUR PROBLEM! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WxN9VzwoGGw

#Accessability is vital for for SOME people ALL of the time, and ALL people SOME of the time. If your app or site is not accessible, it is broken. Not just for disabled people, but for me If I: - Have misplaced my glasses and can't read your grey on grey fine text - Have my hands full child caring and would sure love a screenreader to read your site to me - Have broken the touchpad on my laptop and have to tab through buttons to use your nasty app We are all only temporarily NOT disab...

UNBELIEVABLE news today that Anthropic have developed an #ai model they say is too dangerous to release: https://slate.com/technology/2019/02/openai-gpt2-text-generating-algorithm-ai-dangerous.html β οΈ OH SORRY WRONG LINK! That's OpenAI claiming the same thing 7 years ago. (I wonder why these companies keep saying this even after they're proved wrong... π« ) Poe had it right, folks: :quote_red: *"Believe nothing you hear, and one half that you see."*

:youtube_logo: New video! The biggest unanswered question in nearly every book, article, and video on note-taking I have seen is: WHAT DO YOU DO AFTER YOU HAVE TAKEN #NOTES?! Well, to misquote the great Carl Sagan, before you can write an essay from scratch, you must first invent the universe: https://youtu.be/Tyw6quANpiY

It strikes me that the most popular programming language in the world isn't js or python, it's Excel macros - and I bet it's not even close. Nearly all of the vital code that keeps modern life running is written by underpaid pink-collar admin staff with no formal programming training. This means that, contrary to popular belief, women vastly outnumber men in programming.
