  The community should create a MusicBrainz for computer peripherals. You buy a product, add its barcode, PCB photos, revisions, part numbers, VID/PID to the database. How many times have you purchased multiple USB Hubs or card readers due to stability issues, before realizing that they are powered by the same controller...   Modern computing be like: the hardware (Wi-Fi, Ethernet, etc) may work perfectly well, but it crashes randomly due to a driver issue and since no engineer from the silicon vendor is willing to look at a subtle race condition in the receive queue during DMA transactions, it's unusable and the only solution is to unplug the adapter for a new one.
