@grumpy_copi Genau! Wir müssen natürlich auch die übliche Net-work machen, also Slop erkennen, Phishing ausweichen und Ragebait ignorieren.

@emergencymedicine I combine both - canned decisions as we have established in aviation, and pointing and calling for checklists.

Two starts and landings in Pfullendorf today. 600 meters of grass, downsloping. Very good grass and short field refresher! And it’s the nearest field to my parents, and right next to my former school 😆

Filing an airprox report was not on my bingo card for today. I thought it was clear that you only fly formation with people that you talked to about that beforehand, where everybody has training for that, and when you’re in radio contact.

Didn’t fly for a few weeks now since I was on the road in Italy. So I planned a few laps in the circuit and a bit of airwork for tomorrow morning. At just shy of a hundred hours, not flying for seven weeks makes you rusty *fast*.

The day has come! The LBA (our CAA) sent me an email today! Only 2 years and 9 months after I put in a request, an external consulting AME took a look at it and came to a conclusion. Of course, I don't know that conclusion yet, because all of that data is only going to my AME. So, now I at least know that there's an update. Let's see what my AME has to say about it.

There won’t be (m)any aviation posts over the next few weeks since I’m on the road. Have my lunch view instead. Greetings from Livorno!

@WiredForFlight I‘m still baffled that controllers are running operations like this. Their job - from what I see - is to say „if I’m alone for all positions, I won’t run any of them, effectively closing the airport. Staff the place adequately or shut it down until you can“. Effectively, they should’ve been on strike for a while now. I’m not blaming any individual controller here, the system is obviously broken and their union should’ve done something years ago.

@WiredForFlight that wasn’t a quiet time at all however. My home airport of EDNY has one controller usually, because we don’t have many movements, and it’s completely fine then. During times when it gets as busy as LGA was that day (only during AERO), we have at least three controllers, and that’s for daytime operations. One of these arguably performs what would probably a director in the US. But then again: EDNY has a single runway, one parallel taxiway and then six holding points.

While hiking along the Amalfi coast today. I realized that there’s worse ideas than carrying a handheld VHF while hiking in areas without mobile network coverage.

Hell has frozen over. Germany‘s official airspace regulations („news for aviators“) are available free of charge from now on. Up until now, you had to pay to read rules that you had to follow. Thanks to everyone who worked on fixing that. > Ab sofort können unter https://aip.dfs.de/basicAIP/ auch die aktuell gültigen NfL eingesehen werden, analog zu der Aeronautical Information Publication (AIP).
