I have a book review to write as well, but for now I've finished my #ReadingLog for April. I'm mostly doing them for myself, but it's still always nice to get a few comments from people who enjoy knowing what I've read--it really does make the process more fun and adds a bit of socialization to the mix. Hope you enjoy it! https://taylordrew.me/april-2026-reads/ #bookstodon #reading

I wrote the review yesterday, but I'm posting it today because posting two different bookish things in the same day felt weird! Strategy! Yes! Anyway, check out my #NetGalley review of The Many by Sylvain Neuvel. It was really good. The book is already out, so you can get it right away if it sounds like something you'd be into. https://taylordrew.me/the-many-by-sylvain-neuvel/ #AmReading #BookReview #bookstodon

My progress on dealing with my cloud storage and picture file organization problem remains rather stagnant (mostly because of the hassle involved), but I did begin the process of transferring my email to a paid service and also signed up for an RSS service that doesn't offer six metric tons of unnecessary garbage and so-called AI to the mix. Small wins! I've also been casually learning HTML? Stuff feels weird right now lol

@takosix For real though. Why are they giving her that as a standard meal if she has no problems eating/digesting food... Not to mention that that looks like the worst okayu I've ever seen. That hospital needs to step up their food game 😭😭😭

I read all the manga last month, so my reading log has some volume for the first time in awhile! Hurray! I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I did writing it. https://taylordrew.me/may-2026-reads/ #ReadingLog #AmReading #bookstodon

I did another #BookReview. I'm half asleep and I'm frankly not 100% about anything I wrote, but maybe this'll make someone curious and they'll pick it up! Who knows! https://taylordrew.me/the-radiant-dark-by-alexandra-oliva/ #AmReading #NetGalley #bookstodon

Happy to announce that the sore throat I developed on Thursday and the explosive fever that joined it on Sunday aren't COVID or influenza! I just have an absolutely horrific cold! Yay! The congestion has begun evolving into a sinus infection, but at least it's not COVID or influenza 🎉

@takosix "children aren't allowed to celebrate their accomplishments and we'll happily waste thousands of servings of food and make them eat emergency rations because of something that happened before they were born" Christ...

@takosix I have no love for this woman, but I believe the glove situation is because she has pretty severe arthritis in her hands. Which brings forth the question of why she doesn't have a glove on her other hand as well, but you know...

Complained on main (bsky) and then regretted it immediately, so deleted it and I'm going to complain here instead. Japanese resume building is a huge pain in the ass and I will never not be angry that you have to prepare two separate documents, which have significant overlap. Not to mention the absolute absurdity of having to list the number of employees at the company and other information that isn't even always easily accessible. Not to mention the fact that every recruiter t...

@takosix Easily if the taping to prevent movement isn't necessary anymore. You basically have to use a glove to keep 湿布 on your hands in any capacity, but they don't restrict movement at all. They work better directly at the source than taking an oral anti-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory gels don't last that long and can't be applied that often.

@takosix Some of them are better than others, but none of them really stick. I have prescription ones and they just do not stick well to hands. Unless you have hands drier than the Sahara Desert at all times, they're going to fall off. My doctor explicitly warned me of this when he prescribed them to me and I have bandage gloves from the drugstore precisely for this reason. And her glove doesn't even look like a regular glove. It could be a compression glove of some kind. We don&...

@takosix Not trying to be a downer, but jokes about health conditions really just sit wrong with me and that one stuck out because I have that same problem. Like I pulled a ligament in one of my fingers recently trying to unlock my front door... And the closer images make me do think it really is probably a compression glove, which is not uncommon for the dealing with joint pain or for stability, though I haven't tried it myself. All of the tape falls off my fingers and wrists in minute...

I don't know what it says about my state of mind that I've been listening to a podcast about the World Cup to go to sleep at night when I have never cared about soccer and never watched the World Cup. I do really enjoy listening to John Green talk about basically anything though and that's a significant draw to the podcast and the only reason I even know it exists.

I finished a novel! It feels like it's been ten years! And it was so, so good! Feeling very happy about this, but have a lot to think about now. #bookstodon #AmReading #NetGalley #BookReview #Frankenstein https://taylordrew.me/love-and-other-monsters-by-emily-franklin/
