  “Wait, the rad tech just told me the patient in 13 has boy parts” Yes, yes she does. Her med list reflects puberty blockers. Her medical history lists gender dysphoria. Her out patient notes clearly document her treatment. It’s almost like she is receiving excellent services and the treatment is working. Also, unrelated to her reason for visit and changes exactly fuckall, so let’s all continue to treat the female human we were treating 2 minutes ago and stop being fucking weirdos.

  In light of the blackouts in Cuba, US threats to stop power in Iran, Israeli strikes on Lebanon, and Russian strikes on Ukraine’s power grid, I will remind everyone that trying manually ventilate patients who can’t breathe for themselves is exhausting, technically challenging, and often fatally inadequate. It is very hard to sit there manually delivering 6 cc/kg of air with the right pressure, inspiratory time, and expiratory time, over and over again, for hours.

  Here’s what I’ll say about the #JBSstrike in Colorado: In 2020-21, I watched entire families get hospitalized with severe COVID-19 because the immigrant parents and their teenage kids worked at the JBS plant, and they were working on the line with no PPE while Colorado’s ICUs filled up. People died. Many. The main hospital near the plant was inundated, according to hospitalists who worked there. JBS let COVID wipe out their workers. Fuck ‘em.

  Trump’s DOJ is letting the fuckheads involved in Breonna Taylor’s murder off the hook. For those who have memory holed it — EMT Taylor was off duty at home when police, using a fraudulently obtained warrant, opened fire through the door and window of the home, killing the EMT. She was unarmed, and they have never presented evidence that she posed a threat or was involved in criminal activity.

  So Israel is being accused of using ambulances to infiltrate a Lebanese village. I ask of all of the “Hamas used ambulances for bad things” crowd now, should Lebanon and anyone else in Israel’s crosshairs now start targeting Israeli ambulances? That’s how that works right?   The Pentagon says we have spent over $11 billion on the war against Iran. You could provide residential rehab to every willing alcoholic in the US. You could provide housing and job training for the homeless. You could build a passenger rail line. You could remediate a toxic waste dump.   We all knew Trump was lying when he claimed Iran blew up their own school, but now we have the photos showing a US cruise missile hitting the site. The same type of cruise missile is featured in social media posts by the US, being fired from a ship on the same day. So yeah, somebody who is probably in their early 20s gets to live with the knowledge that they pushed that button, while a raging asshole posted about it on social media, and of course, almost 160 children died.

  AI doesn’t kill people any more than a firearm kills people. Someone turned it loose and pulled the metaphorical trigger. Maybe there are AI enabled weapons systems with autonomous firing decisions active out there, but some dipshit made the call to deploy them, and that’s the responsible party.   Gov. Jared Polis thinks a 9 year jail sentence is too long for someone who tried to corrupt our elections. He thinks it is too long for someone who was involved in stealing voting machine data. That someone also has never once expressed any remorse for her actions, and it is clear from her words that she would do it again tomorrow. Fuck Jared Polis. He’s been in positions of power so long, he’s just a less successful Trump. He doesn’t even realize Tina Peters would gladly put him in a camp.

  My great uncle served on a submarine in WWII. They sank an enormous number of ships. They also rescued enemy sailors from sunken ships on multiple occasions, and had them on board the submarine during ongoing high risk combat operations. The US sinking an Iranian ship and leaving the survivors to drown is inexcusably heinous.

  If BBC’s reporting is correct, what we are seeing in Iran right now is the same playbook Israel used in Gaza. They aren’t sticking to military targets. They are targeting society, and the country’s culture and heritage. To what extent US targeting is following their lead is unclear, but hospitals, schools, historic landmarks, and civil infrastructure are being destroyed with the clear intent of collective punishment. It is abhorrent, heinous, and criminal.

  Two things: 1. If we’re sinking Iranian ships in the open ocean using submarines, this is an offensive war, and the President needs to declare war and go to Congress. 2. If you sink a ship with a torpedo, and there are no other threats around, you are obligated to search for, and rescue, survivors.   When I was a Boy Scout, we got kicked out of public schools for meetings because the scouts were discriminating against gay leaders. Today, almost 30 years later, scouts are discriminating as policy once again, this time to keep the drunk, abusive, religious radical in charge of our military happy. Scouts never learn. The organization is rotten from the top, and has been since I walked out of a meeting and never went back.

  Many years ago I was sitting at a table at the Philly Junction (best greasy spoon breakfast in Boulder until it closed) with my dad, and he grabbed a copy of the Onion, and there was a photo of George Bush with a T shirt that read “Ayatollah assahola”.
