I’ve been in Georgia for the last week and a bit while my dad is in the hospital here. (He’s doing better, and they’re planning to discharge him to the acute rehab facility probably tomorrow.) The whole time I’ve been here, the skies have been beautiful and dramatic. Here’s what it looked like earlier this afternoon when I went out for a walk.

I stopped myself just before telling someone this morning that “I don’t have the bandwidth for that right now.” I dislike using “bandwidth” that way, because it sounds like the kind of biz-speak I can’t stand—something a thinkfluencer would say to solutionize synergies in the thought-leader space… But it’s a succinct and apt metaphor, and it’s matter-of-fact and relatively non-judgmental compared to every other way I can think of to say that.

RE: https://musicians.today/@arendleejessurun/116902705380746422 I’d add that this is also for you if you grew up in the church and were not burned. @arendleejessurun@musicians.today ‘s album isn’t anti-religion; it’s anti-hypocrisy.

This morning I happened to discover that the entire Book of Kells is available online as a digital scan. Amazing! https://digitalcollections.tcd.ie/concern/works/hm50tr726?locale=en

The way changing the attribution of an artwork affects is value and reception is strange. If a painting worth nothing turns out to be a Rembrandt, it’s suddenly worth millions. Then if it turns out to be by someone else it’s worth nothing again. Meanwhile the painting is what it is and hasn’t changed. Either it’s a good painting or it isn’t. The hero worship matters more than the art. Re: @CStamp https://mastodon.social/@CStamp/116162464420726878
