Platonic Caves could be a fun brand name for a movie theater, but might struggle financially for confusing the dinner & date crowd and losing the mid-movie makeout session fans reading the other meaning into platonic

The Sheep Detectives was delightful and touching.

Forza Horizon 6 is another one with that weird bug where all the cars in the open world drive on the wrong side of the road. 😹

“In the Grey” was pretty good. Nice to see something original from Guy Ritchie for the first time in too long getting stuck in other people’s IP. Sort of an angrier “Man from UNCLE” trying to punch up at billionaires, but also suffering from the irony of being partly financed by Saudi tax breaks and I believe a shell company under the Saudi Investment Fund, but right now there’s a hole in Wikipedia about that Production company. 😹 That’s the movie business

I feel a bit like Michael Jordan in his peak if everyone had suddenly decided Harlem Globetrotters were the future of basketball and the only tickets worth buying (at outrageous markups). I’m looking for “my baseball” a little too early in my career and looking askance at all the clowning purporting to be the sport I love and built a lot of skills in.

“The Wizard of the Kremlin” was a fascinating watch. I’m not sure how much of it was based on truth and I’m not sure I would have watched it outside of my current phase of playing movie roulette and having no idea what movie I’m seeing.

Forcing people to sync the desktop folder seems beyond stupid to me. It was always a junk drawer of random app shortcuts. Now it is also a junk drawer of random “conflict” copies of those same stupid app shortcuts because you use the same apps on multiple machines. I get that people confuse Desktop and Documents and store important Documents there all the time. Sure the first thing I do is disable icons on the actual Desktop for cleanliness, but I still keep shortcuts there.

I’m going back through my old blog posts for stupid reasons. Some of it is humbling, I’m glad I’ve grown. Some of it is weird that I have dates on things I didn’t remember blogging, but guess I did. Especially 2005 was the most micro-blogging year still in my archives (just before all that moved to Twitter).

People don’t believe me that I had issues with Harry Potter at the time of release and before we learned what a TERF the author was, but I did bump into my own receipts, such as: > Mostly I’m angry that the tolerance professed in the book is largely the pre-Enlightenment, mostly empty, sort of tolerance. In most of the cases in the series there’s no attempts at true Understanding and Acceptance, much less any sort of attempts at true Egality. https://blog.worldmaker.net/2007/jul/30/book...

How many games can you “Ooh, they pulled the trigger on the Chekov’s ‘Portishead’!” 😹 (Mixtape)

Had my first phone screen of the current unemployment cycle. Got a “we’re expecting 94% of code to be AI written” thrown at me. 🤢 That’s why I’m looking for leadership and mentor roles. If I’m going to be a glorified babysitter it might as well be to human adults not “agentic” toddlers as likely as much to shit themselves than to do half as well as I can on a good day. 🤬 Everything is stupid right now.

Tuner (film) was fine. Basically exactly what I expected from the trailer.

Someone came to me to tell me that we’ve already solved all the hard problems of neuroscience and philosophy and it looks exactly like LLMs so “checkmate”. Wow 🙄 The problem with ANY% speed runs is that 0% is still sometimes a valid run. I guess. Congratulations on patting yourself on the back for not getting a very high score nor dealing with most of the plot of the game, pal. Way to go~
