LLMs are getting better and better at manual a11y testing. They're already better than the average developer with some knowledge of accessibility. Still, I doubt this will affect the quality of sites because we've had automated testing tools for many years, and _no one_ has used them either. That said, I do hope, of course, that I'm wrong and that it will have a positive impact.

I rewatched the first couple of minutes of my CSS Day talk and realized that, initially, when I talked about my concerns about how people are using LLMs, I did it for the audience. Now, 2 months later, I understand I did it for myself. I just needed to verbalize my thoughts and get my concerns off my chest. I'm glad I did it because it was cathartic in a way.

I saw a great introduction to CSS Grid Lanes, aka Masonry Layouts, by @patrickbrosset@mas.to at CSS Day 2026. I liked the versatility of its use cases, but I was also concerned that it's inaccessible by default. https://matuzo.at/blog/2026/grid-lanes-accessibility

On LinkedIn I read that someone saw one of my talks about accessibility at a local meetup almost 9 years ago. They found the topic so interesting and important that they decided to specialize. Today, they're a certified expert. ❤️ Write blog posts about accessibility, give talks, talk to your colleagues. It makes a difference!

Is anyone interested in writing a last minute blog post about HTML (a11y, usability, security, or performance) for the HTMHell advent calendar? Any length and topic. I kinda still need 8 more articles because way more people than expected didn't deliver. 😬 Deadline is December 10th.

After spending several weeks assessing what LLMs can and cannot do, I can confidently say that if your strategy right now is to replace human expertise entirely with AI, you're fucked. There are smart ways to use AI and there dumb ways.

I'm really excited to publish the first post tomorrow because all authors put so much work into their articles. I'm incredibly happy with the result and I can't wait to hear what you think about it. :) https://www.htmhell.dev/adventcalendar/ #HTMHell

You know how they say that you should never meet your hero. @kevinpowell is a hero you want to meet. I had such a great time chatting with him about CSS and beyond. I'm really looking forward to the first day of the conference tomorrow. It'll be great! #smashingconf

Pro tip: You can run accessibility testing tools like axe or Lighthouse on other pages than the home page, too. 0 issues on your home page doesn't mean that there aren't potentially 100s of issues on different templates.

Somehow I forgot to mention that I'm speaking at @cssday in Amsterdam. It's one of my favorite conferences, and I can't wait to be blown away by the sheer amount of knowledge. Look at the line-up, it's once again ridiculous! The ticket price goes up on May 14th, so better buy your ticket now! https://cssday.nl/attendees.html
