Space potato 2001. Runs at 24 fps without Mirror.

Here's a 2x subdivided icosphere. Transformations run at 8 fps, so it's mostly just for cool still images.

Suddenly feeling really defeated again. I just want to make games, but can't really afford even one day a week with these numbers.

Like suffering from allergy and running out of money wasn't enough, I also ripped my pants. 🤦

Refactored the renderer to use fixed point math and wrote a loader for .obj files. Around 320 triangles at 23 fps (without Mirror recording), all Lua. Planet by Liz Reddington [CC-BY] via Poly Pizza #playdate

Texture mapping and distance based shading. Loading pngs is too cumbersome, so the texture must be in raw RGB888 format instead. Tree by Poly by Google [CC-BY] via Poly Pizza #playdate

Here's a full demo of this thing. Probably should get back to developing games instead of playing around with 3D. #playdate

Hate doing the taxes for my so called business. It's not hard or anything, but I'm basically spending a $100 worth of time to declare a profit of $30.

Installed Linux again - this time I'm trying out Elementary OS. While it's by far the cleanest and simplest distro I've ever seen, it still took the whole night to setup my gamedev tools. There's always something weird no matter what you try to install.

I throw up a little in my mouth whenever someone asks for a good "expert" on "Chinese medicine". In China only actual doctors or pharmacists are allowed to practice traditional medicine, for a very good reason. People buy into dangerous bullshit.

Refactored my Playdate mod player library last night to allow a custom cache location. I also wrote a little lua script to resample the instruments on a PC. Together these changes allow loading a mod using prerendered 41.4 kHz samples without the need to do heavy calculations on the device. I'll update the lib and documentation later after I've verified that everything works on both Windows and Linux.

One thing that I really like about Linux (elementaryOS) is how snappy it is. Windows 11 always takes time to ponder the meaning of life before anything happens.
