Fucking insane… and they're still going. All because of one man's decision. RE: https://bsky.app/profile/did:plc:yazbevg3wkzp5llnzb44tqgh/post/3msafkpvzzs2s

Even if you don't use it to generate any code, it's sooo cool that you can generate something like this in 2 minutes to show a whole codebase on one graph, if you look at some legacy* code and don't even know where to start 🎨 * every code you write is legacy code when you look at it 3 months later

I thought about this again today… If I can randomly let Sol loose on a codebase in my famously slow interpreted language, and it comes back with a 3-10x speedup 5 minutes later, that kinda changes the calculation, doesn't it? https://avi.press/posts/2026-07-10-after-7-years-in-production-scarf-has-reluctantly-moved-away-from-haskell.html

Son of a bitch, I ask him about what other APIs could possibly be useful here (as in "I think there were some recent changes to bit operations?"), and he comes back with not just method names, but already benchmarked alternatives to tell me which make sense to look at and which are a bad direction…

"It is a real shame that the Open Source and Free Software communities are splitting this deeply over LLMs and agents. (…) The Open Source world needs to figure out how to engage with that future, not just divide into camps" https://lucumr.pocoo.org/2026/7/24/codeberg-divides/ #codeberg #opensource

Huh, TIL: Firefox still provides critical security updates to Firefox 115 (version from mid 2023) for macOS as old as 10.12 (Sierra), until March 2027 😲 Very nice, Firefox! 👏 https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-users-macos-1012-1013-1014-moving-to-extended-support #firefox #mozilla #mac
